1 more adjustment like getting rid of the intro which has nothing to do with the rest of the song and it works 100%, still it's only a 6+ song for MK standards imo

Absolutely. I disliked this intro from the very first listen. Not every song should start with an intro.

If Mark would write Sultans for this album instead of his debut, you can bet it would have an intro like that :lol

The intro is played in the BBC Version as well...

And it's what I like best on this song together with maybe the first verse. I still hate the chorus and the unfitting Sax break.

I agree a bit about the sax. However, I makes me a feeling as there is change of the scene in a movie or something like that.

The best part for me is when the guitar meets the sax in a great crescendo!    Oh, I love the chorus too!  Perhaps the only part I could do without is the percussion break!    :)

I like specially the sax break. The song goes in a different direction which is surprising and fresh, I like to be surprised and honestly, MK was being too predictable during most of his solo career...

Actually, I find that his solo records are quite varied. His live shows, though, is a different matter. Especially from 2005 onwards.

A pity BBC Music hasn't released the video of The boxer.

The only part of GOYS I don't like much is the first half of the chorus, which sounds too obvious and doesn't really fit in imho.

Virtually every video it see of people asking for autographs etc is really uncomfortable and always makes me think how uncomfortable it must be for many/most famous people - if that was me I would isolate myself - be on guard, be wary etc all the time. Why people have to be so weird is beyond me - a real pack mentality that feels tense to me rather than anything pleasant or joyful. Gives me the creeps so goodness knows what it does to those on the receieving end....

I always laugh at the "Maak!", "Maak" shouts from the people around Mark.

When you are there you are not the same.
Waiting (hour(s)) for an autograph just makes your adrenalin getting high.
And turns you somewhat stupid.
I experienced it despite being not an autograph person.
But as long as it is only shout - no big deal it is part of the game.

Fun to listen to, but they seriously should have rehearsed more. This was not a smooth performance, to say the least.

The Boxer was the best performance, IMO. Nice to hear Mark acknowledge other musicians like that (not just Dylan and Chet Atkins, the usual suspects).

On a side note - Mark should seriously consider replacing Richard with Robbie for the tour. Richard is more versatile, I guess, but Robbie is much more present as a guitar player.

Totally agree with your comments with regards Robbie. Ive admired him since he played for Paul Mccartney especially the 'New World' tour when his guitar playing was legendary....Incidentally I'm seeing Robbie in concert on the 16th November.....

Also what's cool is that Robbie sounds a bit like MK himself, e. g. on The Boxer sometimes you can't tell who's playing acoustic and electric. He just suits his music stylistic-wise. But we all know that Mark will never replace Richard for anyone. And to be honest, I wouldn't, too.

Would be awesome if he invited them both, three guitars on the STP tour was great although I was not a fan of Mike's slide stuff.

Ooooh, I know exactly what you mean. My legs turned to jelly and I could hardly speak when I chatted with him at Bridport... I was a complete and utter mess.... Wouldn't have dreamt about shouting his name though as it lacks respect... The chat and handshake I had was amazing and the three signatures from 'the master' were an absolute bonus...
