Did Universal allowed you to share snippets? That little part where MK plays "You'll never walk alone" would be something worth to listen to...

I was going to post since I received an email just 10 minutes ago, and he said no for the moment, but he will inform me when news will come along

my favorite album is STP. I also like Get lucky and Shangri-la a lot

as for the new album, for now he is in the "new" category for me. you know, when a new album is just released and you listen to it many times just because it's new stuff
so of course it's high in my list for now, because it is new. I don't know yet how I will rate it in several months.
for now I am really excited, but maybe in a couple of months, when we will have listen to it a billion times, it will calm down...

What I want to say is that I was really really surprised in ggod way yesterday, but also because I wasn't expected anything
I don't put any expectations in Mark's music since KTGC, so when a new album comes out, I am not disapointed, but not atonisnehd either. It's just last MK album you know, and that's all

So that's why this new album, I am very enthusiastic.
BUT if you expect way too much, maybe you will be disapointed, so don't misunderstand me it's not the album of the century  ;D

yes I would say that "when you leave" and "slow learner" sounds like "what a wonderful world" : typical lounge-jazzy mood. Piano, double bass, jazzy drums ("balais" en français, je ne trouve pas le mot anglais), trumpet, "croonerish" voice, .....and complicated chords for Pavel  ;) ;D

JF, how about guitarsolos? Is it filled with more guitarsolo's then the previous albums? And is there an amazing solo on it like for example the solo in BIA or TOL?

I'd say that there are lot of lead guitars, but not necessarily a stunning solo, at least not one that strucked me particulary
But there are lead guitar parts on almost all songs

Trapper has solos, but it is rather a theme played several times. very nice, I love it. kind of Draling pretty but faster

Back on dance floor has a typical OES-era style solo. Not sure if it is the LP or the pensa.kind of millionire blues / when it comes to yo style but faster. I'd say it's the most iconic lead guitar on the album. love it too

Nobody Child is more in the behind with the rent / Bluebird style

Just a boy away from home : I love the outro on slide, very melodic, even if I didn't recognize you'll never walk alone !

My bacon roll : clean tone similar to sucker row for example

Nobody does that : clean bluesy tone; very cool.

Drover's raod : saturated LP tone; same theme repeated ala before gas and TV

One song at the time : made me think to Border reiver. and kind of shot at glory flavour. same theme repeated, doubled by pipes/flutes

Floating away. I like it a lot. laid back style. clean tone; it reminds me of blood and water. some jazzy and bluesy licks

thanks Dusty

yes I feel a little bit uncomfortable with this situation. It's the very first time I am able to listen to Mark's album so early.
I tried to answer all your messages (apologize for those I forgot), and I said no to all, I don't want to be unfair. I am sure you all understand.
I hope that public snippets will be soon avalaible (Amazon ?) for you all

As Macca said once : "you know, it's just songs after all"...

as soon as Universal gives me the go, I will try to convince my chief to publish something, I harass him all day since yesterday  ;D

It's really awesome that you keep the good spirit and answer our questions the whole day - and even apologize! NO need for that, we have to be utterly thankful to you for keeping us informed so detailed.

Yes, thanks for sharing your thoughts and patience answering all questions, JF, much appreciated. You really whetted my appetite!
...Well, he's a big star now but I've been a fan of his for years. The way he sings and plays guitar still bring me to tears...

the good spirit is from AMIT, LE  :)

I am sure that all people here are very nice and trustable people. No doubt in that, I always felt a very friendly community on this forum  :wave
and I understand that many aksed me. It's natural.  :)
I also understand that it can make frustration. I just try to describe what I heard

I hope you won't be disapointed though. My tastes are not necessarily the same as yours all. So try to not keep too much expectations just from what I say.  :)

It's a pleasure for me to answer questions  :)

Hi JF. I'm new in this wonderful forum and, of course, your review on the album intrigued me and pushed me to bring a question. I noticed that you were very impressed by Back On The Dance Floor: in your opinion, was the right choice of God On You Son as the first single or you preferred some other song, such as the same Back On The Dance Floor?

I am not worried about it at all. New MK music is ALWAYS a thrill to me. They say "don't judge the book by its cover" but I have to say I love this album cover, no matter how generic it might be. I hope it promises an exciting journey and from your first impressions it sounds like it will. Can't wait.
