Thank you JF!
What songs would MK play live do you think? Or at least would have a chance to make it to the setlist?

hard to say
would would have bet that he chose Broken Bones insteadt of Beryl for example, or that he chos to not play Redbud tree ?

if it was MY choice, I would bet for tarpper man: it's a great opener for the album, and it would make a great live opener imho

back in the dance floor and just a boy away from home would be great live I think, and it would be awake songs if you get what I mean, less zzzzz... than most of his stuff on recent tours
I think that good on you son would work well live
Nobody does hat and one song at the tiem have the perfect mood and pace for live, but i's just my taste
Heavy up too, but I don't like it very much...

what worries me is how he will reproduce the songs live, because it very much "produced" : many sounds, many instruments, many vocals...

In Good On You Son sings great. Write more in what is the vocal form. What is the style of singing?

well, apart from tah very surprising chorus in nobody child, the rest is "normal" Mk singing
on intimist jazzy songs, he has almost a"cronner" voice, you know that deep "basso rpofundo", but it's not new, he sings like that since STP, since he stopped smoking

on trapper man, he says some "yes" during first instrumental part, and you hear that he is in good mood, almost "rocking modd" if you knwo what i mean

on other songs there are lot of vocal harmonies. not sure if it's Guy, others singers, or Marks who sings harmonies (like he did on shangri-la and KTGC if memory serves), maybe a mix of all

Thank you for the great review. This sounds very promising. I have a feeling a lot of this "new, fresh sound" is very much due to Guy Fletcher.

Actually, this sounds very promising really!
But I truly hope that "new and fresh sound" has nothing to do with Guy Fletcher! MK doesn't need him to reach it!

Thank you, JF, for giving us your impression of the album.   I am on holiday at the moment, so it was wonderful to wake up this morning to read such good news!  It sounds as though it's just what I have been waiting to hear!  November 16th can't come quickly enough!  :)

ok third listen this morning on bike on the way to work
the travel wasn't long enough for the whole albul though...

some new impressions :

the overall feeling made me think at OES era : guitar sounds, way of singing, keyboard sounds...
lot of pensa-or-LP kind of sounds

Back on the Dance Floor is very strait-ish to my ears. guitar, and pace kind of millionaire blues mood...

I said "crwod sounds" at the start of my bacon roll
in fact it sounds more like reception or party sound, like in a art gallery, or something like that
regarding the song title, could it be about same subject as my parties ?

nobody does that is really cool. very fres and new for MK !

when you leave is wonderful. kind of "a place where we used to live" song, but not in folk-acoustic style, more lounge-jazzy. gorgeous !

sorry for teasing you,
all I can say is that I really like this album

I wouldn't say that a particular solo strucked me
I like very much back on the dance floor outro, and slid solo on Just a boy away from home
Trapper man is very good too

It sounds really promising!

Can't wait to hear the Cooderesque styles.

And of course, the slide parts! ;)

the slide part on Just a boy away from home is the 64 strat I think

but the sound is warmer as on tracker. it was too much thin for my taste
here it sound more "round and warm" I may say
and he plays some cool licks, alternating fingers and slide
