what I like si that the album is very well balanced.
it has dynamics : driving songs, intimist songs, slow paces, fast paces

on tracker, musicside sometimes you feel listen to the same song : same key, same pace, same sounds

on this album, each song sounds different from the precedent

yes.
I like past albums, but I must admit that since KTGC, I havent' have any "surprise"
you know that feeling : songs are nice, but all melodies, chords, sounds etc.. are exactly what you expected, the comfort zone...

for the first time since a long time, I heard some melodies, chord changes and sounds that I didn't expect from MK ...

don't expect a revolutionnary album though ! all is relative...
but in MK's world it sounds "new and fresh", at least to my ears and my taste

I hope I won't make to much expectation for you all. these are just MY impressions, and we all have different tastes, so maybe it won't have the same impact on all people

I was thinking yesterday : If he chose to change things, to sound "fresh and new", maybe he will do the same on tour ? I mean regarding setlists..... :P ;)

Plus you "only" had access to the standard edition. There are five (?) other songs to explore... Just imagine what gems we had among so-called bonus or b-side songs. Really optimistic now. We all should be aware what we could expect from him. And what not.

Thank you very much for sharing your impressions!

When you say Pensa, which Pensa sound do you mean? I know what to expect with the Les Paul, but Pensa for me is either something like the tone in Laughs and jokes/kingdom of gold or like the pensa during DS days  :)

"Drover’s road
slow pace. Ambient sounds for intro, with driven Les Paul.
Scottosh/irish flavour ala “before gas and tv” with a recurrent theme in minor"

Wow. I know Before Gas & TV is not too popular but I love it. To me, your description sounds really mouth watering even if it seems it's not that good for you.

JF I better not pester you any longer and should give you a break, but one last thing .. when you mention "ambient sounds" occasionally, what exactly do you mean by it? Would the intro of Long Cool Girl be a good example, are those "real" sounds? Or..? Help appreciated, anybody?

no not like on long cool girl intro.

"ambient" is not the good word. I mean a "new age" flavour, synths-electronic sounds. In french we say "nappes de synthés"

It doesn't sound really organ, more synth but in a good way.

I say "ambien"t because it gives you an "ambiance" picture. sorry for my poor english

an example would be synths on local hero. you know that sounds that immediately makes you thinking to landscape

It sounds really promising!

Can't wait to hear the Cooderesque styles.

And of course, the slide parts! ;)

the slide part on Just a boy away from home is the 64 strat I think

but the sound is warmer as on tracker. it was too much thin for my taste
here it sound more "round and warm" I may say
and he plays some cool licks, alternating fingers and slide

Excellent.  His sound has been too thin for a while now IMO.  Let's hope it continues into the tour.  New amps probably?  :think

Coincidently I was watching KC Moan last night from an old NHB concert and saw him alternating fingers and slide on that one from '98!
"...and I blew up the radio in pretty short order."

Reading about it being groovy and rhythmic it struck me that " Back on the Dancefloor" would have been a good album title also  ;D
