There doesn't have to be a Dislike button (there isn't one on FB), but personally I'm perfectly happy without a Like button. Let's talk instead!

I agree, the art of conversation is very precious and should be encouraged.

At the very start of AMIT in 2008, there was a trial run of a "kudos" button.  Members got points for how good their posts were, or not, as I remember.   It was withdrawn after a short trial.

One may of course argue how much "conversation" it is when people quote a post and just write +1 or use the thumbs-up emoticon. Basically that is the equivalent of a Like, but with a larger footprint (and longer threads to scroll through).

Exactly and have often thought myself that a "like" button would be helpful.  I have often refrained from agreeing with someone unless I can perhaps add something productive to my "agree" comment as it is otherwise a pointless comment.

I agree.

I simply love the line "I’m afraid, alas, the turd
Who thinks he’s an ice cream
".

Now when I encounter a**holes during the day, I simply sing this line and I am "floating away"!

Shai

Can AMIT generate some kind of 'like' button to display ones' pleasure at remarks like this? Rather than having to quote and agree :)

I agree.

Having a "like" button would make it more like Facebook and that is one of the many reasons why I'm not a member there!    "Like" buttons would suppress conversation and also opinions, because if there is a "like" button there would also have to be a "dislike" button, which could deter people from posting in case of getting the thumbs down.    Therefore I disagree and hope it never happens on AMIT!

What's so difficult in just pressing the "thumbs up" emo anyway?  ???

I disagree :lol :lol :lol

The kudos button caused resentment, but maybe because everyone had a little score next to them of how many "likes" they had received, and it just became a popularity contest.

Back to the song.

We haven't really discussed the lyric.

MK REALLY having a go at music critics in this one.

Is he actually turning into a grumpy old man?

Do we know it's the music critics he sings about?

Reading the lyrics, I kind of hear a Money For Nothing type style of music. I like the music as it is, but I don't think it goes that well with the lyrics.

Off to work so I don't have time to quote the exact points but it's absolutely clear to me. No doubt in my mind.

The problem was that it gave the chance to vote negative to post. I recall voting negative to something Pottel posted just as a private joke between he and I and I got a warning from Dan!

It took a while but finally this one was the prize of my skipper song of the record.

I have the full cd with bonus in my car and the last three listenings to it, I skipped heavy up without hesitation.

Whereas I quite like it, find myself humming it randomly. It’s just as well we’ve got 19 songs to argue about, something for everyone. Although, obviously, the withdrawn 20th song would clearly have been the best of the lot...

I have that with Just a boy. Can't listen to it. I deleted it from my playlist. Bit harsh but it's the truth. I love heavy up on the other hand. Funny it stays, the different taste people have!

It's not that I don't like it, actually I do like it, but in comparation with the next songs, I don't feel like listening to heavy up and I skip it to the wonderful every heart in the room.
