Bits of "coyote" plus "you don't know you're born" and "terminal of tribute to" mixed with "assassin of love" here.

The firsts listenings didn't say anything to me but it's starting growing, specially for this "assassin of love" ambient...

The first lines of lyrics are missing in the first post:

Hand me down my high roller Stetson
Hand me down my smokeless .41
We’re gonna look so sharp when we walk in
They’re gonna be jazzed we come

I'm not gonna lie. This is a skipper.

It's like Vic&Ray just got groove. But it's still Vic&Ray...

It’s on Qobuz at CD quality. One listen, and it’s so Straitsy. I think I’m going to like this a lot.

I just saw that song mentioned on Guy's forum. Had never heard it before! And yes, the chorus of that song sounds much more like Mark's than does ABBA's S.O.S. Luckily!

Great song! I really like it :) In fact I need to write this, 'cause I'm a bit dissapointed of one essential thing for me. I'm the drummer and I like the style of Ian Thomas. His rhythms are sometimes tricky to play, but hmmm, he doesn't do many fills at all. Listening to "Back on the dance floor" I only heard two or three maybe. I am a bit confused, 'cause drumfills really trigger the music, especially when you change the rthythm and I wonder why he doesn't use them when it's appropriate. The same problem I had with the whole Tracker album in fact. This is my opinion as a musician of course, but Knopfler used to have much better drummer in the past :)

I know that Ian Thomas is a highly recognized drummer, but I also find his drumming a little uninspiring at times. Maybe he was told to play that way by Mark? I honestly miss Pick Withers at times. I listened to the first DS album yesterday. God, he did so much for that album.

Yes, Pick was the drummer skilled the most from all of the DS and MK drummers. It's really tough to cover early DS stuff note by note on drums. But hmmm, covering is one thing and inventing such parts is completely another. Lots of MK songs nowadays ends with the constant main topic going on and on for the last 1-2 minutes and Ian is doing the same bloody thing up 'till the end with spicing it up unfortunately.

Skipper was the first word that got in my mind, too. Then: "boring". And then: Is this really from the same man who wrote Telegraph Road or Romeo & Juliet or Sailing To Philadelphia?

The drums however are pretty cool, together with Danny's percussion. Couldn't bother about Terminal or not as I never liked that one either.

Man this is a great song, Guy sure had a lot of fun making this record with all those synths and sound effects in the songs. Really dig the sound.

I know the way I can see by the moonlight
Clear as the day
Now come on woman, come follow me home
