My idea of heaven is a place where the Tyne meets the Delta, where folk music meets the blues.

Hello Everyone,

Just joined up here after Pottel's advertising in Yeeshkul! so it's really great to be here and let me tell you a bit about myself. My name is Jeff Anderson and I live in Essex which is a county in the S.E of England and I am 34 years old.

I first got into DS around 1988/89 and my first recollection was seeing them on the TV on the Mandela show in '88 and then also part of the Alchemy concert was shown as a re-run by Channel 4 I think? and I taped it and then later when I was on holiday in Spain or Greece (can't exactly remember) I bought a tape of the "Money For Nothing" collection (which by the way is for me THE definitive collection) and played it to death wearing the thing out.

and then I bought the NHB tape and played that to death (your getting the idea here ;-) but I didn't see the band on the OES tour unfortunately as I couldn't get hold of a ticket for either the wembley shows or the earls court ones. And in between I bought all the DS albums of course and played them over and over and anyway I finally did get to see MK live at the Royal Albert Hall on the 24th May 1996 which I remember was a really wet day and it just rained and rained but of course I knew I would be inside the "birthday cake" and what a show it was, and I remember the special guests David Rawlings/Gillian Welch who joined MK in part.

My favourite tracks are basically found on the MFN collection but there are a couple of favourites besides which may not get much of a mention but are still great....

Hey Jeff. I lived in Colchester for the 1st 25 years of my life. What part of Essex do you live in.?
I now live in Norwich. I saw MK in Colchester in 90 at the Uni with the NHB's.

Great to see you here. 8)

Welcome you here, Jeff!   It's really great to read your stories.  Don't know if you get the same feeling from reading mine.

Wishes
Allen

Hi BBB,

I'm from Basildon mate, the only thing famous from Basildon I think is the band Depeche Mode and Alison Moyet is a local girl too from nearby Laindon from memory.

Norwich is very nice and Colchester too.

Glad to be here :-)

Take it easy,

Nice to 'meet' all of you.  Some of you I already know.  Allen, I liked your story.  I imagine you went home from the music store disappointed that day that you couldn't get any new Genesis music ..... only to listen to MK for the first time, and you haven't stopped since.  Like all of us, once you get hooked, you're hooked!!!! ;D
It's hard sometimes but pretty much it's alright

Sorry, a bit off topic.
Hey JJ. Been to Basildon loads, as my grand parents used to live in Wickford.

Welcome, Jeff and Peter! It's always great to hear everyone's "come to MK" stories!

Allen-I am a fan of early Genesis, with Peter Gabriel-NOT that other guy (what's his name?) Ignore Pottel. He is needing a good smack!

You have good taste in music, Allen! Did I tell you that Pottel needed a good smack?

Nigel-Quit hogging this thread, or I'll have to report you to the administrators! LOL!

HEYYY! How come BBB has more karmas than me???????

Hi everyone, if it would not offend, anyone, could we keep this particular thread just to the Who Are We topic?   The chatting about our posts is fun and interesting, but it will cause a very long thread to scroll through just for information.
We could open a thread with comments about the Who Are We information. . . . .
But a spoonful of forgiveness
Goes a long, long way
And we all should do our best
To get along
