Thanks, Fieneke, for bringing this back to more recent times!!  I would not have otherwise found it and learned so much about fellow posters!

I am Lis, from California.  In 1983, when I was 19, I moved myself to Munich, Germany, where I spent 4 amazing years making friends, learning the language, going to school, growing up, and living it up (fun times!!).

Very nice to have this post re-emerged.

I'm Brazilian, 39 years old. I've lived in a bunch of cities before coming to Brasilia, our national capital, 16 years ago. I'm maried and my wife is expecting Gabriela, our first baby, who is bound to be here at the end of May, first days of June.

I'm a journalist, working in the public sector. I'm the editor of "Voz do Brasil" (Brasil's voice), a radio program with news from Executive, Judiciary and Legislative (my part) branches of Brazil's government. This program exists for more than 75 years, it's one hour long and its broadcast is mandatory for all radio stations all over the country.

I had already listened to Sultans of Swing and, oddly enough, The long Road, without knowing who was the master mind behind them. Dire Straits came properly to my attention with the Brothers in Arms video, back in 1985, and I recall my older brother mocking at MK's voice everytime the video appeared in a tv show called "Clip clip"... I felt definetively in love with DS when MfN was released, in december, 1988. I even remember that the compilation was sort of a Christmas fever here in Brazil, with TV ads and all. So, my first album was MfN, and my first CD was On Every Street.
