Personally, I'm waiting for the box set.

Yes but, what's the connection to the rest of references?

 :hmm :think

I'm prepared to overlook them in the event it may be just another boxing song!  Seriously, he could bring out an album solely of boxing songs and it's a subject I personally have zero interest in, except I think it should be banned.

Personally, I'm waiting for the box set.

Clever.

I've had an earworm ever since I heard it!
Me too, but for the guitar intro!

Anyway, is it only me that finds that triangle a bit irritating?

Still, the more I listen to the song the more I like it.

I suggest you better not check out cajun musician Christine Balfa's CD "Christine Balfa plays the triangle".

And who joined and toured with Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel in the late 70's?  A certain Guy Fletcher.

Wow, I didn't know that, James!   You learn something every day!   ;D

So

It's somebody who has moved from a dodgy estate in London to California.

Could be a musician, a film maker (editing) or even a chef?!

Yeah.  It doesn't appear very specific at first glance.  We have Camden and Cockney.  Then LA (California).  We have the producer and screen door (film/TV?).  Cutting block, juicer etc. could indicate TV chef?
Gordon Ramsey?

Could the Camden shuffle be connected to boxing?   "The Camden shuffle and the old one two"?   Boxers shuffle their feet. Just a thought.   :think

MK loves a song about boxers. :)

Any London born boxers currently out in LA?!

A total shot in the dark...

I'm guessing it's about movie director Robert Day. He left England for Hollywood in the 60's and died last year.

His last film was called "The quick and the dead". He also made four Tarzan movies.
Makes sense

Thanks to the kind friends on AMIT who enabled me to listen to this song! Much appreciated.

It’s a nice and catchy tune, sounds fresh and vivid. I like it, it’s got something of a different vibe and bit more modern production. However, there are indeed quite some melodies and licks in it that we’ve heard before and the whole thing sounds a bit too poppy for my taste, but that’s more than ok with me for it being the single and probably by far the most commercial track on the album. Exited to hear more new stuff!

If someone would most kindly pm me and send the song (via my email) I'd be extremely grateful. It is so frustrating to read all these comments and not hear the song. Grrrrrr. Pulling my hair out here. Lol.

Could it be the song about Simon Cowell, like early bird?

He's a British that went to LA too...

Why go at him twice?

That would seem quite petty.
