I just received a promo from universal Spain with this piece of lyrics

And I’ll be out of this place
And down the road wherever
There but for the grace, etcetera
I’ll see you later somewhere down the line
I’ll be picking my way out of here
One song at a time

So I risk a prediction that this song, being about Chet Atkins, is the one "about a musician hitchhiking in a snowstorm". Somewhat touching that the title track (if you like to call it so) is about Chet.

LE

I thought the musician in a snowstorm is Mark himself. I recall that story somewhere. It happened in the beginning days of DS if i recall well. I thought he talked about it in a Tracker interview.

Yes he had to hitchhike back from Cornwall on Christmas Eve in thick snow.

He talked about it and about River Towns. I also thought it would be a autobigraphic song. But the story of Chet Atkins makes sense.

You can order the boxset in the Netherlands.
https://velvetmusic.nl/products/details/19708668/KNOPFLER-MARK/DOWN-THE-ROAD-WHEREVER--BOX-SET-/4-DIV/

Thank you so much! Almost ordered at MK.com but this way the shipping is much cheaper ;D

Do they charge now for preorder or when it ships?

When listening to “Good on you son“ you want to stand up, get your backpack, get into your car and just drive. My feeling is that “Down the road wherever” will be a road trip a great journey, can’t wait.
I might preorder it and since I’m in Canada I might get lucky and get it in shorter time, will see.
If I realised that the chances were slim,
How come I'm so surprised when the tide rolled in

From markknopfler.com:

Down The Road Wherever, Mark Knopfler's ninth solo studio album, is released on November 16, 2018. The album was created at Knopfler's own West London recording studio, British Grove Studios. The legendary artist has worked with long-time producer collaborator Guy Fletcher on the follow-up to his 2015 album Tracker.

The album stays true to the folk and roots-inflected ambience of his solo material, but introduces new elements of jazz, funk and even a hint of the rockier leanings of earlier days. (Emphasis mine.)

What did Guy Fletcher say? "Slight diversion"? So, we're looking at more of the same with some new elements. I will temper my expectations, then.

I didn't check it paying attention but, it looks like depending on the edition, there are tracks that changes their position in the track list... thats weird...

It's weird that "Drover's road" if it's only in the deluxe cd it goes in the middle of the tracklist and "Matchstick man" remains as the last...

Apparently they paid special attention at the track list and decided it fit better that way  :hmm
