I was listening to some classic 80s stuff on the radio yesterday and some of my favourites had synths actually driving the tracks.  I would love to have a retro 80s album.  Very in-vogue right now and Mr. K has always been cool.  8)  ;)

MK certainly is cool in the more literal sense of the word (in a JJ Cale, "Sixblade-Knife" kind of style, you know what I mean). He totally isn't and never has been cool in the sense of being "en vogue". It's true that retro 80s sounds are currently en vogue, and can be cool in that sense, but MK, let alone GF, are the least likely people to create a cool-sounding retro record. There's a fine line between doing retro ironically (which can work) and doing it in all seriousness. The latter is the opposite of cool.

That said, I don't think this is something they would even consider. They'll just use the synths to create "atmosphere", like they did in the past, in songs like "The Dream of the Drowned Submariner". I don't think Mark's songs need that treatment (as he proved with Shangri-La), but I've learned to live with it.  :-\

I understand what you say and probably agree, however KtGC is about as retro as you can get so who knows?

Yes, KTGC is very retro and I love the nod to Bert Weedon's "Play in a Day" in "We Can Get Wild"!   ;)   I know some would say it's MK's weakest album, but there are a lot of songs on that album that I like very much.

It's one of my favourites. I listen it quite a lot.

I don't usually take sides with Guy (did I mention that I don't like his synths? ;)), but seems unfair to bother him with that question (release date) again and again. The release and marketing strategy is none of his business, and he can't answer it. If anyone should be contacted about this, it should be Paul Crockford.

I would say so.  Any moment should mean a matter of hours in this case, or you say days, weeks etc.  I very much doubt it though!

I think you can read this as within the next two weeks but i also have my doubts.
Having said that, don’t you think Guy knows when the announcement is going to be made? I for sure think he knows that. I bet he will even know a tourschedule at this moment. My point he knows a lot lot more then he can say. He is working with MK for over 35 years at almost every project. For sure he knows.....

At this point or at this stage of the release thing... I don’t care anymore, it will come when it will come.

Gotta hand it to PCM though.

No leaks this time (if we assume that a release really is happening non-Guy-soon).

Guy should know the release date as long as the release would mean some promotion where probably he would have to play some showcases, although probably he is now more focused in the recording they are working on for the musical so maybe Guy is not really aware of the exact release date but in a distant date for promotion...

I hope they skip the TV promo this time, it was awful last time. If there must be some promo I hope he asks Robbie Mcintosh instead of Luke Brigthy, I honestly don’t understand why Mark hires that guy, always sounds as he didn’t practice enough.

There will always be some promo. Not that he is doing that much for his last albums. Correct me if i am wrong but i see other artist doing much much more promo things when they have a new album..

Privateering and Tracker didn't had what we call showcases, small concerts, just some radio interviews and short tv interviews sometimes playing one song, probably because Privateering release was pretty close to the Dylan tour in 2012 and Tracker was released also close to the MK Privatracking tour, so there was not enough time to do some showcases.

As far as we know, from the new album release this autumm, there is nothing in MK schedule until April 2019 with the musical premiere, but it's supposed until then MK would keep working in the musical so, who knows if this time he would have time for some showcases...

I hope so!

Can't wait for the promotion interviews so we can get to know how he got his first guitar!
