GF:

There have been many synths used on the new album, including the mighty Yamaha GS-1. Local Hero has a much more limited soundscape synth-wise.

Oh, no! We were waiting for news all the time, and now we get BAD news! I fear the worst, hearing songs like Coyote or Do America in my mind ... :hmm
I love Coyote. A real live highlight in 2010 !

From Guy's forum: "Have there been any Jim Cox sightings at any of the album or musical sessions?"

-Yes there have indeed, Jim is all over the new album...so to speak.

So we know we're getting piano etc. with the synths and electrics— and maybe less pipes?  :think

Less pipes.  :think
I wonder if there will be any changes in the tourband for the new tour. What about just MK Glenn, Richard, Guy, Jim and Ian. Perhaps Danny will join them for percussion  :think
Can we say setlistchanges are on the way if the tourband is different from last tours  :think
Just a thought..........

Jim is all over Privateering, for example

And there were pipes too

We tend to read between the lines too much  ;D

That's exactly the problem. They don't smell!  ;)

Don't worry, I will. I've come to learn that some amount of cheesy synths is inevitable as long as GF is on board. And I don't even mind him being on board, he seems to be a lovely person, and I'm sure he's super helpful with so many things. If someone could just tell him that MK is not Jean-Michel Jarre, and shouldn't try to be ...

Also, I'm not generally against synths. I've been listening to Gorrillaz' Plastic Beach yesterday, which I like a lot, and it has synths all over it. However – as the title suggests - this record is meant to sound like plastic. Whereas Mark, in my opinion, would be better off with wood and steel.

The fact that they're still doing photo shoots (see Crockford's post) might mean that we'll have to wait some more for the official album announcement. Some of these pics will be used for the album artwork and promo material, I guess.

It's taking so long that I don't even remember what in heaven are we talking about, LOL

Seriously, with all this delay announcing, I fear that the release is going to be way later that we are used... later october or november...

From Guy this morning:

"I have heard that but Ruth isn't on the new album this time. We have another couple of guests on a few tracks. "

I suspect that Tommy Emmanuel is one of them!    :think

Interesting. I like the fact that Ruth Moody is not in the record this time. First time was a nice surprise, second it was nice to have her again, third time would have been more of the same.

I think that someone talked with Tommy Emmanuel after a concert and Tommy mentioned that MK said yes to play in his album if Tommy play in some of his songs, so I guess we'll have Tommy Emmanuel singing or/and playing in at least on track or maybe two...

It's also interesting that Danny Cummings played percussion in the album, and that probably Robbie McIntosh also played in the record.
