Hi There.
Its my first post at this forum, but i am a old time AMIT reader.
Sometimes i ask some questions to Mr. GF. Mostly of them are about gear.
So, lets go...
Mark is my all time favorite guitar player. (I Suppose that i'm the only one here hahahaha
)
But, since 2008, with a short break in 2011, i believe that MK has loses his passion for tone and great solos. He is totally careless about 'high level playing'. For me, nowadays, he is more a Folk singer who plays some guitar solos than a Singer that have a guitar as a extension of his voice.
For me, thats fine. I enjoy all of his works. Playing great guitar or no.
Ok, he is around his 70's, so its totally acceptable that he shares a lot of his work with GF, Jim Cox, RB and the Pipe-Boys.
I belive that, if theres no GF, many of his solo albuns probably never would be released.
Following this tought, thanks to them for contribute in amazing songs like Monteleone, Before Gas and TV, Kingdom of Gold and many other that is not about the guitar solo/parts itself.
But, i feel a bit desapointed with MK's recent works. All albuns are really great. I never saw an artist who has so many deepness at his works than Mark.
For me, even with great great albuns, i feel that is something missing.
I agree that its time to leave the Pipe-boys and bring back that STP tour vibe.
But, like Ednardo said: Mark do the opposite that we want.
Sorry that i talked too much.
Lets talk about the new album.
- Danny on percussion again. Great!
- Synths are back. Great!
- There is a Trombone guy. Great!
- Plenty of Archtops. Hmmmm...
I believe that will be a couple of songs based on the New Orleans blues style.
Like the Winton Marsalis group.
I believe that Clapton plays in one or two songs.
Sorry my poor english.
