Here are some news from a friend of Jacki

Quote
She's awake! They took her out of sedation to see how her body would react. So far, so good, although she is very uncomfortable and frustrated, as she still has the breathing tube in. Her blood pressure has improved...pneumonia slightly, slightly better. Her fever dropped for awhile, but is back up again. They will determine whether or not to keep her awake within the next day or so. The Dr's are asking for no visitors until further notice, as she is extremely suspectible to infection right now, and also is frustrated that she can't talk to people while they are there. I willl update again when that changes. Hope you all have a great 4th of July

This is really terrible and I hope she gets better soon. Always remember Jacki as being a friendly person over the interwebs...

Thank you dear friends for this information again!

Gayle can you modify your post with the address of the hospital and put the room number there also? ::)

Quote Nelly: "good idea Fieneke thanks"

I need to thank you for editing and also for the beautiful card you make for Jacki!

I got a mail from Jean Allen. She knows Jacki as a teenager and knows her family also. Jacki often visited her house.

She told about Jacki and asked us all to keep Jacki in our prayers.

I will respond that mail and ask Jean if she can keep us informated about the situation. I also will ask for permission to post her mails or a part of her mails, here at the forum, so you all know exactly what is going on.

As soon as I hear from her again, I will let you know.

Fieneke

I just heard the bad news last night (thanks for your textmessage Nelly).
I will send her a nice postcard immediately. I think it's nice when we all send a card individually and also the one Nelly made. The more the better.  This is so sad, I am so far away from her. And I had (like BBB) the honour to meet her last year on our 40th anniversaryparty.
You are in my mind Jacki, I pray for you and hope you are back with your Knopfler-Knutty-family here as soon as possible. We need you crazy, funny additions here!

Lots of love from me

And BPD, sending flowers will be great when she's back in a "normal" hospitalroom. Maybe we can all contribute by paypal to someone in the US who can manage to get the flowers to her.

You are welcome Shangri-La. I know you all are as worried as I am!

Jaki's friend Jean Allen responded my mail and gave me permission to post her messages, so you all can read.

Jacki had an auto accident on June 17 - 18. She was on her way to work. She works the night shift at the Omaha police station. The first thing we heard was that there were multiple lacerations to her face, broken ribs, broken leg and ruptured spleen. Since then it has been very frightening for all of us - her friends and family - she was placed in a drug-induced coma for more than a week - and was very, very ill. She is also on a ventilator which breathes for her. She has been in ICU all this time. She developed blood clots in her legs - which they expected and is on a blood thinner. She developed pneumonia and went into sepsis.
Yesterday I spoke to the ICU nurse and she said that Jacki was taken off the drug-induced coma Friday noon and that she had overrode the ventilator three or four times an hour and had her eyes open briefly.
Today she is opening her eyes more often, the ventilator is still in place - I believe it is in her trachea - not her mouth - she still has pneumonia but they think she has beat the sepsis - which is very unusual. But Jacki is a fighter and we have all prayed - and wept - to think of our dear friend in such peril.
The nurse said it will be a long road back -- and Jacki needs the support of all her extended family - and I feel the news is good - as good as it can be in this situation. We prayed for a miracle - I think Jacki got it. I knew Jacki as a teenager, know her family - she was a frequent visitor to our house -Jean Allen - Keep Jacki in your prayers.

==================

Moderators, as always I try to be careful and respect people's privacy, but meanwhile I think we also all would like to know how Jacki's condition is. IF one of you think the message is too private, then please delete it!  ;)

I have sent a card today to Jacki and I am sure she will love all the cards from people around the world and make her smile!

Thank you Fieneke  for sharing Jacki's health condition.

I have no objection in that.

Thanks to her friends to keep us informed.
