And my last posting for about 11 days! Not too bad to go on holiday.

Jacki's breathing tube was removed yesterday.  While this is a positive step in the right direction, she is still having breathing problems.  Jacki is using an oxygen mask for now, while the staff tests out various ventilator settings to see how much of the work (of breathing) she can do on her own.  It sounds like the hard part is just starting as Jacki learns how to breathe independently.

Keep those good thoughts coming!

Ian, now it's your turn to keep everyone updated. Thanks for taking this little job.

See you all later, keep on praying, sending good thoughts, cards, presents to Jacki.

Love
Ingrid

You can also get updates on Jacki's condition by going to http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jackicser

It's a website set up for seriously ill and injured patients where their family and friends can stay up to date on the patient's condition. If you create a user name, you can leave messages for Jacki there, too.

Thanks for the link Gayle. What a thoughtful site - a real help when folk are at such a distance from their loved one.

Great news that Jacki is getting stronger with every day that passes. :)
Long may it continue.

:) The news continues to be positive and Jacki has been moved further away from the nurses station, which augers well for her recovery. Keep your thoughts and prayers coming folks...

Jacki's nurse reports that she's doing well.  She is alternating between the mask and the oxomizer (that's the tube in the nose that we see so often) which she finds much more comfortable.  Sounds like she had a good day.

Just a note, the room with a view is still in ICU, but, I believe, a bit farther from the nurses station and it must be wonderful to have a window.

Thanks, on Jacki's behalf,  for your continued messages, prayers, and caring thoughts.  Reports from Omaha are that she brightens with delight when she hears your messages.

:) :) very nice thought MB. If I had the capacity to copy the song and get it to Jacki then I'd have done it also.

I think we would be legal,  since the MK site released already.   They MEANT to release that one.   Yea, Jacki!  And Yea! to all of you who so faithfully report her progress.
But a spoonful of forgiveness
Goes a long, long way
And we all should do our best
To get along

I am back from Greece and although we had a wonderful time there, I everyday had to think about Jacki, especial in the evening when I saw from our balcony the stars and heard the sea! I didn't have access to a computer there, but lucky Ingrid sent me a few times a SMS, so I was informed about the condition of Jacki

Lovely to have you back, Fieneke!   I am glad you had a good time in Greece - I was thinking of you basking in the sunshine!   ;D

Great news also to know that Jacki is doing well.  I hope she will be home soon!   :)

An updated email from Emily:-

Jacki was moved to a regular floor Thursday PM.  She is still supposed to be using the breathing mask but lets everyone know that her preference is taking the oxygen via the nasal cannula (tube).  The docs and medical staff are watching her closely to ensure no complications arise.  It is hoped that if she can stay on a slow but steady course she can become more involved with physical therapy and begin regaining her strength.
