They have extended the play two weeks because of the great demand!

Also the full cast has been announced:

I don't see Karen Mathieson mentioned in the cast.    She was pictured some time ago, with MK!    :think

Actually, I don't recognise any of the cast list, even though Guy said some time ago:

"I CAN tell you that there are many musicians involved in this project, most of them are very familiar to us all"

I wonder who will be in the orchestra/band?

Karen Mathieson is not an actress but a singer.

The cast is made of actors that also sing. The people who went to British grove to record the songs were just to put voice to the lines MK wrote for the actors but in the play it's going to be the actors who will sing what others recorded at BG.

If we are lucky they will release what they recorded at BG. Sometimes they just release what the actors sing in the play.

Sting did both. Released his own recordings of the last ship and also a version sung by the cast.

Thanks for explaining!  It seems quite complicated to me.   :)  I hope we will hear the recordings from BG too.

Actually is the BG recordings what are of interest for us... There is if course MK, Guy, the Mac's, Robbie, Ianto, Danny, Marcus Cliffe and other players and singers well known... it would be a pity if they don't release all that recordings...

Now I'm wondering if the music during the representations would be played live by musicians or using playback from the BG recordings and the actors sing over it at the stage.

Probably local musicians.  John McCusker and Phil Cunningham are local musicians!  Can't see PC in the pit though, he's more likely to be on the stage!

From Guy's forum,  a question of mine.

Q: Hello Doc. I read several tweets from people involved in the musical that the rehearsals already started with the actors. I guess MK and you are also there, aren´t you? Could you tell us anything about the rehearsals, how is going, whatever? This project is very very interesting and exciting for many of the fans and we would be happy to know any detail you are allowed to share.

A: Obviously I can’t share too much but yes, rehearsals are underway and the cast and crew are finalised for the Edinburgh run starting in March. Mark and I are in and out as there is now quite a team running the whole thing. It’s all very exciting.

I hope this doesn't impact on rehearsals for the tour.  If so it would mean fewer new songs and back to playing what they already know.   ::)

Another question of mine to Guy:

Q:Thanks Doc for your answer about the Local Hero musical. I’m quite excited about it and really looking forward April that is when I have tickets. I don’t know if you can answer this but, there is going to be musicians playing the songs during the representations, or it’s going to be pre-recorded music and the actors singing? I’m not very used to musicals so I don’t know how that things works… Thanks!

A: It’s all live.

As far as MK, Guy, the Macs etc will be touring from April, it means that musicians playing in the musical has nothing to do with MK and his band...

So, anything MK played will be played by other guitarist... and the magic touch will be missed, unless they choose a guitar player that plays like him...

I think it would had been better pre-recorded music, so you can hear MK playing and at the same time the actors singing but... they are the proffesionals...

Guy's reply to me:

Hi Guy! Will the music for Local Hero be performed by an orchestra or a band and if a band, will any of the members be familiar to us?

There is a live band that will do the show. I don’t think anyone you currently know although you may well do in the future.
