Maybe because of Mark's 2019 tour

Maybe because of Mark's 2019 tour

What I was thinking.  Perhaps PCM are arranging the tour schedule and the only dates they could get for some venues coincide with what they had planned for the Old Vic.  Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. :)

I don't think so. The commitment of MK with the musical is with many many people involved working on it. Mk won't force to delay the work of so many people because of his tour, actually he would have to schedule his own tour to not coincide with the musical because that commitment was done before...

I bet that it's the theatre who had problems with their schedule, or maybe they are afraid of the sales in Edinburgh.

Very strange... All the cast and crew sitting for a year then coming back?

Just read Robert Hillburn's excellent biography of Paul Simon and there is a lot on the debacle that was The Capeman that lost millions of dollars 20 years ago. Sting's musical unsuccessful also.

Sincerely hope this isn't going the same way!

One of the things that came to mind is that the next step will be Local Hero being cancelled in London.

And seems logical that happens. Despite being written (the songs) by a star like Mark Knopfler, the story is Scottish, and I don't see it being a success in a city like London that is like a mix of nations...

It was always a small little film, something for lovers, for insiders so to say, a real cult movie in the best sense of the word. I was really astonished about them getting back to it with such ambitious plans. Whatever happens, MK's music is recorded obviously and will see the light of day some time hopefully.

I can skip the musical show anytime but eight or more new songs from MK are something.

I have the feeling that anyone that wants to see the musical, must buy tickets to Edinburgh...

I also have the feeling that many fans are waiting for the tour dates to decide and buy tickets for the musical.

I started watching the LH movie again not long ago, and I had to switch off after only a few minutes in. I don't  think the acting is very good, and the movie itself feels very dated. I'm honestly quite surprised MK wanted to spend so much of his time on this.

First time I've heard that said about this extremely well crafted little film.

For me, Local hero is a very nice film and from all the movies MK wrote the music score, the best, followed by the Princess bride.

i can understand your trouble! You miss the villain, because there is no such in this movie that you could point at!

Not sure what you are trying to say here? Anyway, the story is ok, kind of a David v. Goliath theme, and of course the locations are gorgeous, but when I tried to watch it again, after many years since the first time, I feel the movie hasn't aged well. I am much more critical to movies now than I was when I was a teenager, and I honestly don't have the patience to sit through what I feel is a poorly acted movie. This is only one man's opinion, and your milage may vary.

All the films MK was involved in were pretty good, except A Shot At Glory which was very bad. Haven't seen Altamira to be fair.

Funnily enough, tonight I watched Bandits for the first time. Rudiger is on the soundtrack but towards the end there were some other pieces of music that sounded like MK, WTD outtakes?
