I expect it to be as "fabulous" as the Altamira soundtrack. It will sound as recycled as many of the Tracker songs do. Nothing new really.

In a certain way it is absolutely consequent of him to start recycling complete albums now.

It's a musical... a musical about a film he already did a score... where most of the song lyrics are monologues or conversations between the actors...

It's going to be new and old, rare and fantastic at the same time!

Did he?  Since The Folkies came on board all the albums have been the same!

Did he?  Since The Folkies came on board all the albums have been the same!

and you feel alright when you hear that folkies sing. as ever.

Rubbish. What do you mean, «all the same»? The fact that they sound as if they'd been written by the same man, and played by the same musicians? That's rather natural, isn't it.

You could say the same about any of the classical composers for instance.   Mozart is easily recognisable, in fact he used the same "tune" for both the flute concerto and the flute & harp concerto.   The same applies to Beethoven, Rachmaninov, etc, etc.......and MK too, mainly because his guitar and voice creates a unique sound!   

In fact, in the 70's there was a panel show on TV called "Face the Music" and in one of the sections the presenter played some music "in the style of" classical composers, which the panel had to try to identify.

The man mentions something about 'watching different singers' during the recent recordings. Sounds like it is not just MK at the microphone then! Nearly half way into March and still nothing definite in terms of new material info! I know, I know, patience is a virtue!!

Of course not... in a musical are the actors who sings the songs that are in fact the conversations between them, and all the songs composed by MK had to be checked with the actors, that are also singers, or actors than can sing, to check if the lyrics and music wrote by MK works well or should be changed towork better in the context of the play.

Maybe is because it's about Local hero which is a film I like... but I'm... I don't know if excited about it or just curious about it, maybe a mix of both...

If it was a musical about something different, I'm sure i'll be at least curious, althought musicals are not really my thing, except for some exceptions like West Side Story...

Just a few quick ones here and a POV, I for one enjoy surprises therefore when information is ready to be shared well that’s when it’s ready to be shared. Although it’s much to early to tell but does anyone on the project anticipate a NY run? Finally and I’m not certain how this works but will the band play the “actual” music in the theater during the performance? At least for the first few opening nights? Reason why I ask is many years ago I saw TOMMY in NY and noticed a combination of live and non live music from the pit all of which added to a great musical performance. BTW: Many years ago a prickly case of sciatica was present during a tour, so in hindsight, Don’t Break A Leg…..

This sounds as though they will be playing live at every performance, so depending on how long this musical will run in Edinburgh and London, I wonder if there will be a tour of the new album also sometime next year?
