Roger Waters in Washington DC
« on: August 09, 2017, 05:28:47 PM »
Hi guys,

I like to do crazy things, so I have been doing a short round-trip Paris-Washington DC to see Roger Waters for 2 nights in his new Us+Them tour. When I heard he would only come to Europe in september 2018, I just did not have the patience to wait !

I really got impressed, this complements very well 2015 and 2016 Gilmour shows for me to catch up with Pink Floyd-related stuff. Especially on the Animals section: Dogs and Pigs were amazing. Pigs is nothing less than an ininterrupted 12-minutes Trump bashing, concluding with "Trump is a pig", just in case you hadn't got it. I would have thought that these Americans, a few miles away from the White House, would not appreciate this... Quite the opposite, their enthousiasm was tremendous !

The light show was stunning, the Animals plant seemed as if it really existed, the Dark Side 3D Pyramid was breathtaking... Roger was in a great mood and form for a 74 year-old, everything perfect (except security as usual...).

Anybody has been to shows from this amazing tour ?

Cheers

Too far from the US and too expensive, but will go when he comes to Europe.

Where did you hear it would be September 2018?

I've been to The Wall tour twice and it was incredible, can't wait to see him in Europe soon. His latest record is superb!

His voice was surprisingly quite good compared to previous tour.
And Dave does not bother to play the Animals stuff, Welcome to the Machine, Brain Dammage and Eclipse (last both originally sung by Roger), so it is highly appreciated to have them at least by Roger.
Last but not least, Dave Kilminster is no Gilmour but can be quite amazing. His solos on Dogs and Pigs were nothing short of stunning.
So I am quite happy to have seen both David in 2015/16 and Roger this year. Quite a good slice of Floyd - unfortunately cut in 2, but that's the world we need to live in. We are like the kids of a family were parents are divorced, used to be bad to each other, made peace and occasionally go to family events together, but not to the extent of being a family again...
But I love both Mom and Dad :)
