Thanks for the link, I was too lazy for finding a way over downloading it from YouTube and just recorded it off screen.

You can tell by the words Tommy's saying about his HUGE, huge admiration for Mark's work. I love that.

Yeah, thanks. Already know how to play the song, but my fingers is a complete mess... Played it like for 20 hours straight. Time to get healed.

Doesn't it sound like something from the 1940's or 50's? It reminds me of something and I don't know what...  :lol  not anything from Mark but...

Sure LE, of course it sounds old. In fact, it sounds so old that my initial reaction was to google the lyrics up to find the song, what I usually do when I stumble across an amazing song I don't know. I thought it's a classic jazz standard from 30s, because Tommy plays plenty of them.

But after "I suppose" I immediately realised what's really happening and this is Mark's new song. How cool is that?

It has something from "I'll See You In My Dreams" for sure, all this stuff. Stylisation at its finest.

It has this old classic vibe, I'm pretty sure Tommy said something like "Oh, I love the old music" and Mark said something like "Oh, I have plenty of songs I wrote in this genre as well". And Tommy be like:  :o :o :o :o :o :o

I like this little tune, it's nice the same way Quality Shoe is or Your Perfect Song. Not exactly the kind of lyrics I would  expect from a man who is called brilliant master songwriter at every occasion. But it sounds classic from the very beginning. Timeless. And I guess that is not so easy to achieve.

And there is a solo in it obviously and that's not too bad either.

LE

Just what I thought too.  Has a sort of Quality Shoe vibe to it, which is no bad thing IMO as I rather like that little tune.
"...and I blew up the radio in pretty short order."

One Of Those was played again yesterday:

Every time Tommy plays it it's like a brand new song, it amazes me every time.

Chords are different, solos are different, everything's different. That's class.

Knopfler plays on a song titled “You Don’t Want to Get You One of Those,” which he also wrote.

Emmanuel points out that his duet with Knopfler was inspired by their mutual love of country music guitar great Chet Atkins.

“This song that Mark wrote captured Chet’s sense of humor so well and I had the time of my life in the studio with him conjuring ‘The Master’ as we laid it down,” Tommy recalls.

Now, this is interesting... Tommy usually records his collaborations nowadays, like this one:

The question is, did he record his collaboration with Mark????????? If so, this would be a bomb!

I appreciate Tommy's guitar playing very much, but I was wondering if he needed a boost in sales with such a special song written for him, by MK and a record with collaborations. I don't mean it offensively, it is a shame that he s not as well known as other less inspired players, and maybe all he needs is the spotlight of such a song.
Come on, it is not funny anymore.

Tommy needs a lot of money to pay for three of his homes in America, Australia and England, also for his kids' education, he can't afford touring (and travel for that matter) in a private jet, driving fancy cars, etc. Which means he needs to do a lot of work, which for him is touring. But luckily for Tommy, he actually loves to play, so by playing nearly 365 shows a year he's like a shark in the ocean that would be dead if it would stop. His oldest daughters live in London, by the way, so in a way he's closer to Mark than we may think :lol

With that said, he's such in a sweet spot in life while enjoying his enormous success, his fame is not as wide as film stars or Mark's fame, he makes enough money from doing what he loves the most, in the meantime he manages to do some extremely generous things like giving away guitars, paying for talented kids' musical education, etc.

Bottom line, I don't think this was the direct reason, but to a very small degree it certainly was. And yes, he deserves more.
