I had to spend more than a month without a guitar but just enjoyed an evening with a viewer in Istanbul who let me play some of his amazing guitars, including this rare and beautiful Gibson. That's certainly the best guitar that I ever played!

Nothing sounds so powerful than a Gibson Les Paul, and it is also heavy!

glad to see you in good shape Pavel, and with that lovely guitar
I am planning to buy a Les Paul one day, but I have to spare money...

Just recorded a short instrumental piece Mark wrote as a part of the Metroland soundtrack. It's short and simple, and beautiful. I tried to record it with all the equipment I currently have: only a Squier Mini Strat and Mustang Micro Amp, my favorite combination. The link to the tab is in the video description if you fancy learning this little tune. Pavel.

Metroland has, in my opinion, some of the most beautiful melodies written by MK for a film score, I specially love this one and I think it's a pity that when playing live he let the sax and piano play the melody and he didn't played a single note. In the record is MK who plays it but if I remember well, during the film you can listen that song being played by the piano, which is not in the record!

Good moment of the day chosen to record the video!

Thank you jbaent and JF. Yes, having more guitars wouldn't hurt :lol

I was quick as always, trying to capture one of the last sunsets with somewhat warm weather, but my hands were already freezing :lol

Yes, it's quite a bummer Mark never played it on guitar live!

I'm going live tomorrow at approx. 09:00 p.m. GMT. I'll answer your questions about the studio version of Sultans Of Swing by Dire Straits, questions about my version of the guitar part from this song, and give an update on my plans, life, and music teaching work which I finally started doing. Pavel.

P.S. Today is the 15th anniversary of my YouTube channel. I registered there quite early but never uploaded regularly until the end of 2016, so technically it’s only 6 years old.

Lots of good tips and insights, Pavel. I've been in a "Knopfler mood" lately and have played along to a lot of DS tunes. It strikes me how "economical" Mark's playing is. Most of his licks and runs happen around chords and "boxes" and everything feels very natural. You don't have to master weird and complicated things that people like Allan Holdsworth or Tommy Emmanuel play to figure out Mark's style. The technical part is fairly simple. It's more about getting the feel of it, particularly note choices / phrasing and dynamics.

Coming from you that's quite a compliment! Thanks. Yes, the simplicity of Mark's playing and songwriting surprises me every single day... Well said.

And now it's time for another solo! It would be "Baloney Again", played by Mark in Nulle Part Ailleurs French TV Show back in 2000. Of course, I will do a more detailed review of this solo on my channel. The backing track is my own recording I did for practicing improvising. The sound is coming directly from my Fender Mustang Micro Amp, with no edits. For more solos renditions like this, consider supporting me on BuyMeACoffee or Patreon. I'm gonna attempt going live today with a new Mark Knopfler Songbook real-time lesson at 11:00 a.m. mountain time or 21:00 Turkey time. You can prepare your questions about the song "Don't You Get It" from the Golden Heart album and leave it here or ask them via email: fffoma@gmail.com

Calling Elvis Solo - Live Version from On The Night DVD. As always, it's a perfectly written solo, filled with Mark's little magic tricks and difficult parts. And so enjoyable to play! I'll discuss this solo in one of my next live streams. Pavel.

I recreated one of my favourite moments in whole Mark Knopfler's career — Sailing To Philadelphia Solo, played live on 09.09.09 in London. Can't even describe how beautiful this version is, and the solo, and the band, everything's simply perfect. Check it out. This time, my mistake was not in the playing, but some video glitch slipped through towards the end. You simply can't live without mistakes! I wanted to use this first take simply because of the bird that came flying on one of the most impressive bits in the solo. Tab, as always, is in the description in multiple formats. Lesson pending. Enjoy! Pavel.
