From the What It Is lyrics... seems to be a secksual (hehe) reference or is it just me with my dirty mind?

French kisses, I take you one time .. In Down To The waterline..

What else? Let's collect them, it's cold outside..

Could be your very dirty mind (naughty boy)!  Or it could be in reference to the previous line that mentions the Tollgate.  The tollgate building in Edinburgh's Canongate served partly as a prison.  Many of the prisoners were sent to plantations in the Caribbean for many years hard labour. After a period they could return to Scotland, however, before their departure the captives were marked so they could not escape their past. Women would have their faces branded with an iron, while men had an ear chopped off.

So the building has a certain history.

I believe Mark is El Macho indeed, but in the most cases it's the character in the song who speaks, with the most prominent example being "Heavy Fuel". In more "real life" songs, I love that Mark can talk about anything in his songs, and you can have a pretty good idea what song is about, but he write it in such words that you can't find any seKsual context or, say, politics in it, with a little exceptions of course. I know that "Why Aye Man" is technically about Thatcher, but I don't give a damn about it, because it's such a strong song. Same goes with seKsuality in his lyrics, I think.

With that being said, it's sad for me to hear songs like "Terminal Of Tribute To" with insulting, straight lines, as if it was written by someone else.

What about the whole "You and your friend" song?

Will you and your friend come around...
( )
I'm a hungry man
( )
let me know one way or the other
so I can make my plans
( )
You got my imagination
working overtime
