Dusty, i know that what you say is that BIA is very similar to this beautiful song. But apart from the dissenting chords and the interplay of guitar and synthesizers (even if the guitar is a Gibson Les Paul) the songs are quite different. Well if BIA came first, I think that Bird of paradise would be more famous, since it would be considered a copy cat. Now nobody remembers. And anyway, Snowy, had this song only to show as a hit, minor mind you, and out of print for almost 15 years. And when in 2001 it was re pressed it was not that easy to find as Dire straits records.
As for the other matter, I have a set of new lyrics for Rollin and tumblin. How about giving them to you to record a brand new song? Well, I say when something comes from tradition you should mention it, respecting both the unknown composer and your audience, that might look for the roots of a song. It has nothing to do with fairness, it is only a simple "hats off" a sign of respect.
