Shameless Plug
« on: May 21, 2009, 04:25:30 PM »
I'm playing a gig in Edinburgh tonight with a very talented singer-songwriter called Emma Forman.

I've found out that the gig is being streamed live on the internet here:

http://www.ustream.tv/channel/live-at-the-ark

I think we're on some time between 8 and 9pm UK time, please tune in to see how many of MK's licks I rip off. ;)

Apologies, I got to the gig and they told me that the online stream wasn't working.

But interestingly someone in the audience's dad went to school with MK.

That's sweet that you guys are having a holiday together, of course I'd like to meet up. I'll ask some of the guys at work where the best gay bars are so you can feel comfortable.

Well done! It's really impressive that MK inspires so many fans to pick up an instrument. By now "Dead On The Road" is my favourite! And I love the acoustic outro on "Matty's Blues (It'll All End In Tears)".
And she's sitting in her Lusso, in the early morning sun.

Yup, it's all me!

Thanks, I was trying to sound like Willie Nelson but ended up getting nowhere near! Seems tone really is in the fingers.

Hi dusty!    I am SO impressed with your songs - I really love them both.   I would never have thought the singer was you at all, I would have said it was an American singing.   The guitar is great too!   I am a fan!    ;D

Aw, thanks Val.

The singing one is a difficult one, people say "You're Scottish, you should sing in a Scottish accent", but it just ends up sounding like The Proclaimers. :) Besides, it's an American art form, so that's just being true to the source I reckon. I don't consciously do it, it's just how I've always sung, I guess from having grown up singing along to Buddy Holly, The Everly Brothers etc.

My voice is my least favourite part, I'm reasonably pleased with the guitars but I find it very hard to listen to me singing. The bits with harmonies seem to make it a bit more palatable. :)

I hope to have my album, The Late, Great Dusty Valentino, completed this year and the first copy will be winging it's way to you Val as my number one fan. :)
