Once I asked Guy if a certain forthcoming album was gonna feature long and juicy guitar solos. He said yes. Months later I got Kill to Get Crimson. Nuff said  :lol

True story btw

The solos on The Scaffolder's Wife, Punish The Monkey and Behind With The Rent are all great electric and typical MK style. Juicy enough for me, compared with later albums.  Can't find anything like that on Tracker, sadly enough.

What happens on Basil and My Heart will Never Change are more "anti" solos so to say... well fitting and great sounding nevertheless.

Tracker is not an album full of solos, but it is my favourite solo album nevertheless - take Basil, for instance - those infills are really delicious!  These days his songs are not about intricate solos, probably because his hands and fingers are not as deft as before, but they are just as beautiful, but if the next album really does have some solos then I will be happy too.   Also, I agree, a more jazzy album would be fine by me!     Also, why not wait until you've heard the album before jumping to conclusions.   Who knows, it could be a pleasant surprise!  ;)

All of his albums have tons of guitar on it and plenty of solo spots. It’s just completely different from the DS/early solo career stuff...

Yes. He played beautifully in Basil. I do not need anything more.

True story btw

Actually there are many guitar solos in Ktgc, but most of them played with pic and with tremolo, so not the solos we expect from him...

KTGC was a retro 50s and 60s album and pic and tremelo were on a lot of songs at that time - Hank Marvin and The Shadows for example!    ;)

I like it too, but I have to be in a retro mood to listen - that's why it is at the end of my list, not because it is a poor album.   ;)

According to Guy, Robbie Mcinthosh played some overdubs on Mark's album:

Yes it means that Robbie did do some overdubs on Mark's album and Danny has played percussion on the whole record.

Wow, I'm quite surprised really. Robbie is a great musician but I don't see him doing anything that Mark or Richard couldn't do.

Robbie's background is mainly pop-rock. Perhaps Mark's going for a more commercially palatable approach this time around?  :think
