Not even "heart full of holes"?

And what about "the scaffolders wife"?

Two very beautiful songs with beautiful melodies...

The only two songs I don't like very much are True Love and In The Sky...
So Long

Well, KTGC is not an easy album to get into, but it has some qualities. When it came out I actually liked it better than Shangri-La. Punish the Monkey has a great groove. Heart full of holes is touching. Ms Geneva is interesting. True it sounds repetitive, and has no easy hit, but it still a quality MK album.

It is true. And it is very British, English. It has a unique atmosphere and depth. And Let It All Go is very important to me

yeah it is very british.
For me KTGC is also his weakest but has some nice songs on it.
Fizzy, Scaffolder and Rent.
But too much clean Strat Sound. Easy Guitar noodlin . Weak Drums
It sounds thin all in all. Hard to describe.

I agree with some of the posts here about KTGC. I don't like it very much and I'd say it's probably his weakest album. As for The Ragpicker's Dream, Hill Farmer's Blues (as one would guess by my signature) is one of my all-time favourite songs and that makes the album great  :lol

Though Golden Heart takes the #1 spot for me.

I think KTGC is a very underrated album.    It has a very retro feel about it reminding me of the 50s, especially We Can Get Wild, which mentions the DA haircut and also "Billy Fury on the gramophone" - even Bert Weedon's "Play in a day" is in there too!  It's not my favourite album, but I don't dislike it and there are many really lovely songs - Heart Full of Holes, Punish the Monkey, We Can Get Wild, The Scaffolders Wife, Madam Geneva and also In the Sky, which I do like!    :)

I agree that KTGC is easily the weakest MK album. Which just means that it's a very strong album.  ;)

Reminds you of the 50s?  Something your Mum must've told you about Val.  ;)

Always struck me as his Hank tribute album.  Very relaxed, mellow and easy listening.  Very repetitive.  Twang, twang, twang...  True love will never fade, True love will never fade, True love will never fade...  Monkey is quite a cool song though and I wish we had heard that one live.

I think it is the key to understand this album. It recalls the 1950s when rock n roll music was born and yet it was very simple and natural

we can get wild, forgot how much i loved that. also hear full of holes. so it is truly only the fishy birdy and the true love song that annoy me.

KTGC is very nice to me, all the melodies are nice

I think some people don't like it just because the style/kind of sound is far away from DS

I think In The Sky is the biggest missed opportunity in human history. The song itself is beautiful but the arrangement is so bloody bland!

That song could've been Mark's solo career's Brothers in Arms. Forget about guitar tremolos and saxphones, I love those but not in this one. I can hear the keyboards and the folkies as a bed in the background, creating that mellow and slightly trippy atmosphere. Now I can feel the buildup, first drums and bass show up and then start pushing a bit harder, Mark's Les Paul firing those stunning and melodic licks in between his vocals, it's gaining momentum... Then we explode into the chorus, In the Sky, In The Sky... everything is roaring, but Mark's kind of roaring, classy, harmonious and emotional. The song continues with this dynamics until the last bit before the final chorus. It's just Mark's voice and Guy's keyboards. So moving and delicate... then the Les Paul tears into it, shortly followed by the drums and everyone else, we hit the last chorus and then... oh, and then Mark plays the most beautiful, melodic and spiritual solo ever! And it's long, very long.

But no, we got saxphone solos and yet another repetitive arrangement. Sorry, I can't forgive that album  :disbelief
