How many really good ones?

Exactly.

That's what makes easier to MK cut a record in the band sessions. When MK and Guy are alone they try all the songs MK brings, they decide which ones deserve to work on, they do the basic tracks for them so when the band arrives they can record them quickly.

I'm quite sure than more of half the songs are recorded, maybe more.

It is amazing how Amit'ers can make every little piece of information we all are longing for, into something bad. Guy replied "At least", as in "as least 20 songs". Amit translation: -It is a hoax. - It is said to create expectation and to disappoint us. - It is too many songs, which can only mean they are not good ones.

It may well have been just a fun reply from him, but I have never seen him written anything where he is intentionally lying to us. I don't care if it is 20 songs or not. Let SOME hope live, please.

On Guy's forum, Louise Wickson dreams about 20plus songs and Guy answered "at least".. seems like a real "news" to me? Maybe the long wait shows it's reason in really a lot of new stuff...

Exactly. As it was discussed before, I'd cut Privateering into 1 normal album without this "first double album" thing. A first triple album? Oh, no...
Dylan did it before. So yeah, and old, I would take every mk brainfart

I'm quite sure that they recorded, at least as demos, more than 20 songs for sure, and probably they are going to record with the band about 20 or even more, to have enough material to choose for the record, and bonus tracks for the deluxe editions.

Just check the previous records (except Privateering), the number of songs released plus the bonus tracks released. Then we should add between 5-10 more that didn't get a consideration for the record or the bonus tracks, but were recorded anyway... it's quite usual.

Ian Thomas said in an interview that for Privateering they recorded 45 songs... and it was only double, with just three (or five with the amazon and itunes only digital bonus?) songs...

I see that Terry has just done a complete update of the website. No new news yet, but it does rather suggest that something is imminent.

Guy: "Yes, we have delved into the world of modelling. It's a useful tool. "The old with the new" "

This is very surprising, but maybe it doesn't mean they are using modelling

What does it mean exactly? I don't understand what modelling is. Can you explain?

Technology has improved so much in the last years that there are softwares for PC or dedicate hardwares (like the Kemper) that simulate the sound of an infinite number of amps/guitars/microphones etc with a quality close to the real thing

Modelling is basically a digital representation of an amp, pedal, etc. In the old days, modelling was awful, but nowadays it's so good you can barely distinguish it from the real deal. Imagine playing your video game console emulated on a computer, this is what it means by modelling — emulating. And playing the "real deal" is sitting on a couch with a controller playing the game "the traditional way".

I have nothing to say against modelling. In fact, in half of my videos I used modelling amps, but sometimes I used transistor amps as well as relatively expensive valve amplifiers... And you really can't say which is which, especially via YouTube. They're just that good.

Technology has improved so much in the last years that there are softwares for PC or dedicate hardwares (like the Kemper) that simulate the sound of an infinite number of amps/guitars/microphones etc with a quality close to the real thing

And the quality of these thing sometimes baffles me! Especially given the vast number of hundreds of variations it gives you.

The Kemper costs about 2K and is considered maybe the best of all the modelers.

Terence Reis of the Dire Straits Experience uses it live on stage
