Julio:

It’s possible to receive email alerts about if The Princess Bride jumps to the stage!

No Disney and no Prince's Bride, GF has debunked both rumors. A long time ago I brought up the possibility of a Chet Atkins related project. Interestingly, someone hinted at that on Guy's forum and he did not debunk that one. Just another frivolous assumption but we might be getting a regular album/Chet Atkins Tribute/Documentary combo. Best possible scenario in my opinion.

Maybe you're dreaming, I hope it's not so. But I hope a solo album is coming, coming also.

Yes, please! Tommy Emmanuel, Vince Gill, Brad Paisley, Steve Wariner... that would be tasty.

But let's remember that Mark wrote all the lyrics

And even that... I can't avoid this thought:

The fact that it's not The Princess Bride musical doesn't mean is not something similar, about a different play, a book etc

I just saw your comment on Guy's forum. From my understanding he didn't say the play itself was nonsense, he meant the fact that it was hinted that Mark was involved is. I guess he was just stating they are not related to that project.

Anyway, if this misterious project has anything to do with Chet Atkins I think Brad Paisley would be a natural collaboration. On stalking duty I found this:

You know what I think when it comes to the secret project?

I think Mark is very aware that he is getting older. He becomes 68 this year. Somehow I have the feeling that there is alot of material he still really wants to put on record before he isn't physically able anymore. I think his focus shifted more towards recording the things he feels the need for to get out there. Instead of putting out a few songs and then go on tour. I also expect the style is going to be a bit different than what he has put out so far. Maybe even jazz influences... who knows.
Besides that, imho, I don't find Mark really the type of person who would do/organize a tribute CD. He is a songwriter who wants to put out his own material. He might take part in a tribute project from another artist and put in his two cents by taking part in one or two songs, but that is about it.

Mark tributes artist in his own way, by writing a song about them. Examples: "Donegan's Gone", "Back To Tupelo" (tribute to Elvis), "Beryl", "Song For Sonny Liston",  "Quality Shoe" (tribute to Roger Miller) etc.

Another reason why his next solo album takes longer are probably the many little projects he does in between for other artists. And it wouldn't suprise me he produced some albums for another artists in between, like Ruth Moody. Maybe even recorded another duet album.  Little projects like this for example

It does make a whole lot of sense to me. That being said, it didn't take him more than 30 minutes to record those bits for Dan lol

Hi Guy, very exciting news that Tommy E was in Grove last week. Was this for the current MK project or something else ?

GF:
