That interview coincided with a period of time in which we had many "documentaries" like "A life in songs", "When Phil met MK", "Guitar Stories", and this Mark Lawson interview was quite different in how MK acts during it, he looked more nervous than in the "A life in songs" one, the other two, as the host were Phil Cunningham and John Illsley, two good friends, he looked more relaxed.

Going back to topic, according to Guy, in the sessions of their project, many musicians were involved, included most well names to us  ;D

Mark is far more relaxed in a radio interview than on TV - the Johnny Walker interview for example.

Re Guy's Forum, in answer to my guess he said "Nice guess" so perhaps it was a bit closer to what's happening - maybe a rock opera or musical, based on R&J.    ;D     :think

Guy: I CAN tell you that there are many musicians involved in this project, most of them are very familiar to us all

The question was if it'd been only him and Mark in the studio this whole time to what he gave the response quoted. To me it sounds just like any other album really. Maybe a MK album and a Chet Atkins tribute? Maybe those plus the doc? Who knows... I come from a time where there was no internet and I only found out that OTN had been released after I walked into a CD shop and literally bumped into it, so... lol

A friendly record shop owner passed the promo sheet to me for that one so I was there to buy it from day one. But your same experience happened to me for Live At The BBC. A new Dire Straits record put out and I wasn't aware of it ?

Before internet, DSIS (dire straits information service) existed and send 4 letters per year informing that DS was recording a new lp, MK a new film score, other members their own stuff and other things related to them...

I never knew about DSIS so I never could be a subscriber.

The very same thing happened to me with Golden Heart.  Just browsing the record store and there in the K's was a new Mark Knopfler solo album.  Totally took me by surprise.

I hope Van Morrisson is part of the project.
But I fear other artists singing Mark's newly written songs...

You read my mind, man... so, all the clues tells us it's going to be a MK & Friends type of thing. Interesting...
Mark never did something like that indeed, I mean not a single collaboration, but a whole project? Wow.

If it turned out like STP I'd be thrilled.  He had JT, Van the Man, Squeeze, Gillian Welch/David Rawlings, plus some bv's by Vince Gill and of course the Emmylou songs that weren't included.  Am I forgetting anyone?

I'm hoping for something a lot more exciting and different (Guy's words) than STP2, which is far from being my favourite album.
