I rather have a picture of the National than absolutely nothing. That means he is with MK or doing something where MK is involved, and that's good enough for me ;D

Oh well, at least we know now what shoes Guy was wearing.

Quality shoe, no doubt.

Very interesting! Does this mean the National will be on the forthcomming album? Some of the best songs are with the National "Done With Bonaparte", "Romeo & Juliet" and the intro of "Telegraph Road". Do you I need to say more? A stunning album is in production! LOL :-)

Oh yes, bonaparte is one of my favorites from solo era. The lyrics are beautiful  :) Music is great too, but I like the accordion more than the National on that song.

There are two completely different Bonapartes, basically. I like far, far, far, far more the '96 original with the bass guitar and Irish musicians.
And the fact that this '96 version as you can hear on Golden Demos, was almost entirely recorded live (except for a Strat) blows my mind.

I thought most of us liked Bonaparte as a song but thought that it had been performed just once too often live?  That's what I think anyway.

Oh, and that awful version at the AOL Sessions 2007 when Guy imitated the accordion on his keyboard.  Huhhhh!  ::)

I liked Bonaparte during the first and second tour, but after that, I'm done with Bonaparte...

I still like Bonaparte and the lyrics are wonderful, but I have to agree that it has been done too many times.  Some of the 2010 versions are pretty good and also the one from RLRR, which is slightly different, with Emmylou.   I still listen when it crops up on my random play and don't feel the need to skip.... yet!    ;D

As a French I love DWB, altough it is harsh for Napoleon whom I admire ;) the lyrics are well thought and gives the point of view of the average Joe family, as usual with Mark - no heavy social criticism like Roger Waters would do, but clever, sarcastic observation of daily life !
I love the Paris 2010 version, in D instead of C - gives it more energy.
And I like Rudiger too :) miss it actually.

It also mentions Moscow right in the first line, so it's great for Russians, too :lol

One of the many reason this forum is so great: somehow DWB always pops up in a discussion, I love it! ;D

Besides the studio version (that Strat is so awesome), I really like the 2006 version with Emmylou!
