:) :) Great Idea emilianomk. I'm sure there will be a lot of entries in this thread by year's end.  ;D

First off, we were told that the song Mark played at the Garrick Club private gig was "Get Lucky", will feature on the new CD.
A link to Guy's studio diary is here also:- http://www.guyfletcher.co.uk/diaries/20089album%20diary/2008mkrdhome.php

we know that the whole band is playing on it, there is some celtic instruments and an classical orchestra.
a lot of nice guitars (including a 12 string thingie).
a couple of songs which didn't make it on KTGC are included.

what more?

Personally, I can only hope that these songs were omitted from KTGC because they weren't in that psuedo-folk kind of style - and not because they weren't good enough.

KTGC was my least favourite MK/DS album.

Have to agree with Val on this one. :D
Loved KTGC.
But........i would still like to see something a bit different.
For me, the slow drip, drip, drip of info for the new album is the best bit.
The odd track name appearing, the album name, the art work. etc.......
Although, i will still try to not hear any of the tracks until it is released. Hard to do, but well worth he wait. ;)
I do enjoy reading peoples comments about the new songs though. Makes for even MORE excitement.!
This now, is the start of the slow build up, with the release in Sept (hopefully). The release of tix for the tour, then the tour next year.

Cheers   BBB.

considering the songs that did not make it on an album orginally, but then did make it on a subsequent (or b side) i think we ARE in for some threats (long highway, secondary waltz...)
any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....

LOL!

I personally love KTGC.  There will be something different to this album because I think each release always is.  That is what is so great about Mark.

I agree with Ian...I really like KTGC. They probably wont play my favorite from the album..."Heart full of Holes" on the new tour...but I would also like to hear them  play "Punish the Monkey" and "Madam Geneva" in 2010. I would love to see him bring back "Junkie Doll" for the 2010 tour as well...a great live song!!

KTGC was my least favourite MK/DS album.

Mine too. It has grown on me a fair bit, but compared with MK's other albums there just aren't as many songs I would call "all-time favourites".

I wonder if the ommision of most KTGC tracks on the last tour is a sign that MK is moving away from that style. Some of Guy's comments suggest we could have a very different sounding album. After all, can anyone imagine a string section fitting on any KTGC song?

As for the revisited songs, I'm not worried at all. MK is one of the few artists who still makes proper "albums" as opposed to collections of songs. There's usually a theme to some extent, and a similar musical feel throughout the record. I'm betting the "leftovers" are simply songs that wouldn't have sounded right on KTGC.

I have a lot of hope for the new record...everything I've read has me excited, far more so than with KTGC or even Shangri-La.
