OK, seeing as we were never allowed to discuss the reasons for Chad Cromwell's sudden departure from the 2005 tour under the Gruppen F

Dunno and don't care, personally. It's between him and the band.

And I prefer Danny's style anyway  ;)

At the time, it was said that Chad had left during the 10 day pause between the March, Southern Hemisphere part of the tour (13 concerts), and the start of the European leg of the tour, "for personal reasons". He was supposed to have returned early in May, but by then Danny had established himself as a competent replacement drummer. It may well have just been a case of Danny making full use of his opportunity to impress MK with his playing. Like when a young footballer gets a chance to play because of an injury to someone else and plays so well that the coach keeps him in the team after the injured player becomes available again. One thing we can be sure of is that Mark holds them both in very high regard, and it wouldn

For me it's a little bit double, I love Chad's style but I also love Danny's style. He is more spontanious in my opinion. And I think his way of playing is more what MK likes. In 2005 the reason for his replacement was personal. I remember we really were worried at that time that someone very near to him was ill or something like that. It was brought like he left the band for just a short time but he went and never came back. We all know MK is not the easiest one to work with. So after all these years I think there was some disagreement or something like that. We will never know for sure. But the more I hear and see Danny the more I like him. And now I hope he will never be replaced.

A very strange situation, you would think that if there was some sort of problem he would have left before the start of the tour. Leaving mid-tour really left MK and the band in a very difficult situation, rehearsing for weeks with Chad then only having a couple of days to prepare Danny. Danny really did very well to come in under those circumstances and hasn't looked back.

There were also rumours at the time that CC left because he had the offer to work with Neil Young.

I also heard the same rumours.  But are they really rumours or we can find some evidence to support them?

Interesting story, jbaent. Could be an explanation... No idea if it could be true or if it is wrong though. What hurts me is the Chad used to do big tours with MK and other artists, so what could have been his problem this time?

Anyway, in terms of music, and as far as I am concerned, I prefer Danny's style so much than Chad's that I won't never regret him to have left the band. I think that DC really brings something new to Mark's music.

I've always wondered too why Chad left the band though. Leaving in the middle of such a big tour, well, it may have been something really serious for MK, the band and the management. But Danny was here and he made such a wonderful job... Thanks Danny !

Personal reasons, he had to attend family issues.

This was what was told then, but I was surprised to learn briefly after that he would be on road again with Neil Young.
The rest is only speculation.
