Paul McCartney tonight in Paris !
« on: June 11, 2015, 02:14:03 PM »
I'm going to see Sir Paul tonight in Stade de France ! Anybody in ? :)
I do not follow Paul as closely as Mark... I just had a quick look at the setlist from his previous show in Marseilles and got a shock. Do you know how many songs he plays ?? Make a guess. 15 ? 20 ? 30 ? No: 41 songs !!!!!! I hope I can catch the last train back home ! :)

As long as he doesn't cover Marbletown, you'll catch the train  ;)

Don't know how long the show is but I do know that a lot of Beatle songs are only 3-4 minutes. If you don't extend it with solo's then during Marbletown Paul can do 3 of them, same with TR. Then it goes fast with number of songs

Almost missed the train but ok now, with 1 minute margin: Sir Paul came 1h10 late and stayed on stage for almost 3 hours !! I am amazed with this 72-year old man, looking as if he was 40, and singing  and playing as if he was 30, and teasing the  crowd as if he was a teenager. He is immortal, just like the Beatles music, so timeless than even youngsters sing Michele, Let it Be, Yesterday or Hey Jude  ! Beatles is the common taste I have with my mother :)

Serious competition for Mark, albeit in a very different style. Ingrid is perfectly right, all the songs are timed to last exactly 4 minutes, so you can fit loads of them. 41. Paul followed exactly the same setlist as in Marseille with only one exception. It was great to have this setlist on my iPhone to help me not getting confused with all these Beatles/Wings/solo songs ! :)

Paul litterally set fire to the sated de a France (fireworks and smoke in Love an let die). He sings, plays guitar, piano, the fool, runs, joke in french, in english, invites a girl on stage for a hug, put back his shirts in his pants, at times you feel it's a sand up comedy :) but it's real, ambitious, megalomaniac even, show, with big screens, projections of photos and animations, lights all over the place, looking like a Roger Waters or Pink Floyd show !

Paul blew me away, he never ages, he looks and play the same than 18 years ago on the Montserrat concert. A real genius... Acting like a 12-year old :)

Glad you liked it, he is a funny lad , and his two gigs in the ziggodome 7&8 June , where well received in review land , but for sure by his fans mostly because he plays the song the fans want , bringing back the Beatles feeling.

In Amsterdam he had no problem with a marriage proposal on stage :
its in dutch , but scroll down for a little video of that:

There are simply no moaning, criticism or displeasure possible when it comes to Paul McCartney's show.

I remember attending his shows two times (both in Russia, which is too far for Mark today), and I loved every second of it including 1+ hour delay.

"I have always loved playing in Russia and have great affection for the country and the people," he said in the post. "I hope the current climate will change soon."

MK (2013)

is it too far , or is the climate not changed?

i really wonder.

I just pointed out that Paul plays music, wherever country he would go: Japan, Brasil, Argentina, Russia, UK, USA. Climate has nothing to do with it.

Also, cool thing about Macca's shows is that you can easily spot some stars right in the fan zone, and you can also stand in the line with some actors, musicians or anchors, and people could sing 'Hey Jude' while standing in the rain outside of the venue, and be happy after hour and a half delay.

To me, the only guy who can compete with Macca in terms of fans engagement is Bruce Springsteen.

Pat & myself
Were at the 7th June show at the Ziggo Dome
Paul was GREAT to watch the night after MK. He was 40 mins late
It's not fun rushing to get there and then having to wait.
Mark starts his shows on time.
Glad you have fun with Paul, Pat and I did.
But we follow the MK shows.
Hamburg tomorrow and then back to Cannada on Friday

To start his show an hour late is unprofessional and shows a disrespect to his fans IMO, unless there are extreme circumstances.  I would be really annoyed by that.

I was really annoyed by that for 1 hour and 10 minutes; then I was blown away for 2 hours 47 minutes, and completey forgot about how annoyed I was. That's the magic of Sir Paul :)

This being said, yes, being so late is not considerate, especially when people have to travel back at night !
