To start his show an hour late is unprofessional and shows a disrespect to his fans IMO, unless there are extreme circumstances.  I would be really annoyed by that.

LOL unprofessional? Who are you are talking about, some local garage band?

The trouble with his shows, is that venue organisers open the doors too late and they often has this strange system of segmented fan zone, and all the fans in fan zone keeps going very slow due to this organisation (often with bangles), and also there's a huge crowd in the wardrobe if it's not a hot summer.

The trouble is, is that by the time concert should start, every time only half of the venue being crowded with people. You can think that Paul just don't go on stage with all the venue fullfilled with people, but he isn't. So Paul and his professionalism have nothing to do with this, it's a venue's fault.

Basically, the lower level of the venue, the bigger delay of the show people will get. It's just too many people.

IIf something like this would happen in MKs concert, there would be many to blame management instead of the venue :)

Mark starts his concerts more or less on time.  If it is the case that they can't manage to make the correct time, then this should be taken into account and a later time announced beforehand.  Similar to Scotrail timetables!  ;)

I know also that clocks on Edinburgh's railway station fast about 5 minutes for people's benefit. Very cool indeed!

I don't know if it's even possible to set the doors opening time earlier, it's always one hour before the show.
I think two hours before the show would be OK, but where on Earth doors would open so early? I don't know.

Despite this huge gap before start, in the end you will tear up your throat singing and beat off your hands clapping.
Anybody who decide wether to go to PM concert or wait another year or two, go without any doubts, it's worth anything.

You should be advised that PMC do sound-check for 1h/1h30*. And if you are rich enough, you can buy a something like 300/400 € face value package that include attendance to it. So due to this long sound-check it is impossible for early gate opening.

* : that means that Paul play may play for more than 4 h on some day. And his longest sound-check are close to equal MK shorter concerts  :think

There are simply no moaning, criticism or displeasure possible when it comes to Paul McCartney's show.

I remember attending his shows two times (both in Russia, which is too far for Mark today), and I loved every second of it including 1+ hour delay.

"I have always loved playing in Russia and have great affection for the country and the people," he said in the post. "I hope the current climate will change soon."

MK (2013)

is it too far , or is the climate not changed?

i really wonder.
-- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just pointed out that Paul plays music, wherever country he would go: Japan, Brasil, Argentina, Russia, UK, USA. Climate has nothing to do with it.

As Guy said, there are no any special routing on Tracker Tour except neglecting Russia. So it's so far away for Mark this year, yes :)

In O2 London the concert started 1 hour or so later, I think just because the venue wasn't full in time - it became full, but much later for some reason.
And right, when Paul gets on stage, you forget about everything. Like you never have to go home. His concerts bring the atmosphere of Beatles shows, and let us recall who Paul McCartney is at same time. A super modern singer and a classic songwriter with a "trademark" composer's style; and yes, one of those guys who made The Beatles that important for us. Does he play songs people want to hear? No. Because three hours is too short time for that. But he can pick songs that make you cry and laugh, and see all your life before you - and every tour, sometimes even every concert's encore those are different songs. In O2 for me it was Another Girl - I don't know why! But I still cannot forget it.
I think there's nothing to compare to Mark - Paul has absolutely different approach to everything he does. Quality is the word I use to describe Paul concerts.
In terms of everything.
I'm glad in Paris he was as great as always.
As for Russia, he even told a little about his first visit to Moscow in his hometown, London, in a very positive way. We love him, and he knows and appreciates that. While he knows that some of us eat meat and some voted for Putin, he still allows us to have our own opinion, live in our country and love his music - and he will return to play for us whatever happens, because he's Paul, he's the musician, and he's the legend. God bless you, big man.
PS Actually, no words needed to describe Paul, as he's known to be dead back in sixties. lol
A security guard said it was total foolishness on our part to attend the show in the rain. We laughed and said we were indeed the most foolish folks in the world. --Tee, JTO

I can understand you, Paul McCartney never toured Australia from 1993, but we talk whole different things here.
Never tour or tour once is fine, but deliberate neglecting with all same league stars touring in our country is not fine.

Imagine Mark cancelling German tour (not offend anyone), or neglecting Spanish shows. Or Italian. Or any other 'good' country.
I talk about it infamously on amit for months, but if you didn't experienced ignoring of your country (?not touring), you can't understand me.

I also would like to mention that I'm not the man who started this topic again, I just defend myself :lol

Quite simple: on my ticket, and on the the reservations web pages I have been though, it was written 20.00.
The show started at 21.10 exactly, according to my iPhone which I believe is synchronized with atomic clocks.

Is there a debate ?

sorry to insist but I asked him again and he said there was a support act : a keyboard player playing along with beatles tunes about 1 hour from 20h to 21h, so indeed the ticket said 20:00, but according to him it was including this support act, and apparently many people in the crowd didn't even realize there was this support act. I asked him if he was sure it was really a support act, and not a keyboard tech testing sounds, but he said of course not, it couldn't have been during 1 hour...

Ok, I was far away from the stage, but I can tell you this: if this was a support act, that was not a lively one ! it really felt like radio to make you patient ! no introduction, no applause, no nothing ! I confirm that nobody seemed to notice ! in comparison, Ruth Moody is Pete Townshend ! :)
