We had a very pleasant evening with DK and Harry Bogdanovs last evening. The venue was very small, holding about 200 people and seemed to be sold out. David was very chatty and talked a lot whilst tuning his guitar about the inspiration for some of his lyrics, a lot of which were about his wife and daughter and life in New York.
Not having heard anything much of his music, apart from the odd YT video, I found most of the songs in the first half of the show to be pleasant, but on the bland side and one song seemed to merge into the next. There were some songs which stood out from the rest, namely "Easy Street, which sounded vaguely like MFN - David and Harry's guitar sounded great together on this song. Another song which I liked very much, but can't remember the title had a line in the lyrics about "east and west and being blessed" or something similar (maybe someone here knows the song)! Anyway this song had some really strong guitar from both DK and Harry and I enjoyed it a lot! The concert ended with "The Games People Play" with a big singalong!
During David's chitchat he mentioned that he had been in a rock band in the 70's and that he had a brother who was in the band too!
He mentioned Mark a few times, during the evening, imitating Mark's voice speaking to him, which sounded quite funny and certainly seemed to amuse some of the audience.
It was nice to see Steve Phillips in the audience with his daughter and some of his family.
To sum up, we had a very pleasant evening, but David and Mark are two very different musicians. Mark's lyrics are far superior, imo, his music is more varied and there is much more depth compared to David. One thing that impressed me greatly, though, was Harry Bogdanovs! His guitar work was superb!
