Yes, I agree again it's an absolutely fantastic track isn't it.

Guy gave the name of the traditional "Shove the Pig's foot a little closer to the fire", and suddenly everything makes sense..

Yes, the version from Transatlantic Sessions is actually almost IDENTICAL as Mark's one, but only without his words, his guitar, drums and clapping.

Love the epic key change from I to IV, really makes me think I'm at an Irish dance and the band just heard that someone bought them a bottle of whisky each !
Hey, i`ve got a truffle dog - finally a song the ordinary man can relate too!

And it was probably first change of key in the whole Mark's songbook ever. First and an epic one :)

At least I can't remember any modulations in his music from the top of my head.

Is there one in yakety axe (neck and neck) where he plays a nice lick over it too - unless I'm mistaken?

Very nice catch! Yes modulation appears, although this song is clearly not from Mark's own songbook.

Probably it's one of the reasons why so many people finds Mark's music a little boring.
In other hand, Sting's music, Paul Simon's music are full of modulations, they all over.

True. That yakety lick is a masterpiece though, I could do with a tutorial on that one foma ;)

BUT, since Guy mentioned helluva lot of editing on this song and instrumental part is in its original G Major key... it's not even intended modulation, more like a forced one. So technically it's a modulation, but not a genuine one, more like caused buy original music what was used to put words over.

Yes, it's a masterpiece lick! Actually, it's not hard to do single licks videos, but I love ALL the licks in that song. Don't know if I can stand to do just one.

I am not good at this but was not Calling Elvis live in 1996 having some key changes, also Don't You Get It on the album version?

I am not muso at all, so this could be totally wrong though!  ;)

Isn't there a change in key in Telegraph Road just before the verse that starts "I like to go to work, but they shut it all down"?  Seems like the key shift signifies a shift in the lyrics in that song from the part that tells the history of the city to the personal story of the narrator.

Love the vids from you tube and thanks for posting but still prefer MK's arrangement the best.... clever song made into the fabulous 'ditty' - look forward to hearing it live too....
