Kind of like getting all worked up over a cuppa and a bickie, then saying to Guy: "Allright, let's hit it and make some really sappy, tepid slosh suitable for dentists' offices, shall we?"

I don't think so :)

At last I've been able to sit down, and play this through the Bose....
Erm am I the only one who isn't too sure about this track??!!
Bit too slow for me personally, but maybe it will take time......

Well done Foma, there is plenty of time with this song being 'slow' to get those Chord changes in!!!!!

I have never ever taken a pee break but if this one is being played, I am seriously considering doing so  :)

Totally off topic.. But I just played Get Lucky, as a full album again and I've forgotten how good it is. I really like So Far From The Clyde again. A really strong song. More of this please!!

That (getting into elevator territory) is the fear I have with every new album. However I just can't and refuse to believe that this is what Mark Knopfler wants.

I think that the last three albums have sounded like that.  I have higher hopes for this one.

Getting back to the point of the thread, I like the song.  Not my favorite, by any means, but it's much better than Seattle, and not so similar to In the Sky or Are we in Trouble Now or If This is Goodbye that it bothers me.

Interesting. Seattle is a whole other categorie and universe for me. That one is a real gem and a classic. I don't think I will ever really like Wherever I Go.
someone said it pretty nice: It is a mixture of too much well known stuff. Without any original new parts.

 :D ;)

Both this tune and Beryl are quite unoriginal. Maybe he's saved the originality for the remaining tracks? Maybe they form a rock opera? Accompanied by tin whistles and slide guitars?
