I'd like to put it down to the number of times I've played my old "Live in 85" VHS video during the last week while trying to get an acceptable copy to transfer to DVD, but as that doesn't result in any sales I think I'm just guilty of wishful thinking !

Whatever the reason, it is remarkable that it has re-entered at No.8  I can't think of any recent publicity in the UK that could result in a "run" on DS albums.
Perhaps people have been downloading it after buying tickets for the Tracker tour when they realised they couldn't find their old CD  :think  :hmm
Four days ago the reports said it had re-entered at number 4 !

Possibly more surreal is the fact that Mr Bob has just gone to number one in the UK chart with an album of Sinatra covers ?????

When you point your finger 'cause your plan fell through you've got 3 more fingers pointing back at you.

Wonderful news!! I had the LP because my Brother bought it for me as a gift when he came to visit me in Sweden in the 80's but as I moved a lot in the 90's I somehow managed to loose it so I bought the CD again last year!!!
But it's written in the starlight and every line on your palm, we're fools to make war on our brothers in arms.

Awesome stuff. There are loads of other albums at 99p on the Google store atm too, so it goes to show that Dire Straits are a massive impact for music seeing as they are not in the top ten. Excellent aachievement and album that's 30 years old. So relevant Mr Knopfler and crew.

A long time ago came a man on the track......

It says of its quality by its own. Like a vine - it's getting better with the age! :thumbsup

I'll bet Mark's quietly pleased about this.  He'll go into a room on his own and jump up and down!  ;)

He'll celebrate by ending every show on the Tracker tour with So Far Away.

rudiger you have 35 versions of the CD? Wow! I must have 20 versions on vinyl and CD together.

Actually the pic is not comprehensive: I think (not including vinyls and cassette) I have about 50 different editions

Only John Bennett who is focused on collecting BiA must have more!

Some of the most interesting versions are the Yugoslavian vinyl with slightly different lyrics printed for MFN. The Korean that for some peculiar reason leaves out RATR and puts WW first on Side B. There is also an extra rare test pressing from Poland with the songs at their full CD versions (don't have it).  Which reminds me of another picture disc the SOS single from Poland.
Come on, it is not funny anymore.
