Being no Musician at all and only listening to music, I would like to ask you, foma (and every other forumer with musical skills as well of course) what do you think of it, now that you analyzed it? It sounds light and easy, simple, is it musically spoken somehow a challenge to a guitarist? Are there some small little things that show how much genious MK is, or is this a song that every drunken busker could have written?  :wave

A little bit raw, yes. By the way, Ianto ended up the song with his word again! Even on the record, what a crazy man ;D

Noticed that too.  What an ego!

Great and very well written question LE.

Well I analysed many and many songs by MK and I can say they really ALL are simple. Yes, I said that! They, how to sum it up... they what you could call 'well written' in every aspect. Take 'The Ragpicker's Dream' as exhibit

Well yontwocrows, I think if PC would write something on this, I will do it with even more passion indeed.
If only I had time, I'd write a book of all Mark's songs with proper chords, analyse and all that stuff.

Pensaboy, it depends on your point of view. Lyrically speaking they are not simple at all, I'm not talking about Beryl right now indeed.
Music-wise, simplicity is the key to all great songs. I mean jazz standards is good examples of timeless and powerful yet simple songs.
With music often all the difficulty comes only with the structure of it. Take 'Telegraph Road'. It's extremely big, but well structured.

That's why I call it simple

Listened to the song once this afternoon and think it's a killer track! Very good guitar part and sound plus a very catchy melody, therefore an ideal single to promote the album. Also love the energetic vibe and fast pace!
@Stefan: zou je me het nummer misschien willen mailen? Zou graag nog meer luisteren naar Beryl maar het is niet meer online.

Lots of old amiters posting today - some of which haven't been around for a while - it's great to see you all, but on the other hand, it is sad somehow to see you not in "normal" times.. :-) just a little thought of me, please don't feel offended!

Yes you are right...I'm one of them and surely I'm not offended!  ;)
Let's say that the BIG excitement in these days let me overcome the difficulty to write in another language!!  ;D
