My guess is that Mark has (almost) stopped playing Sultans because "the twiddly bits" just got too difficult. He simply can't play it like he used to could, and thus decided to better not play it at all. Which is all fine as far as I'm concerned. Fingers do get rusty with age, there's no point in pretending that they don't, but luckily he has A TON of great songs that don't require guitar wizardry. Tracker will have more of those, and I'll be too busy hearing and admiring them to even miss Sultans for a second.

There are a lot of much older players out there who can still play faster stuff than that so I don't think there's an excuse.  Personally I just think he's lazy and doesn't practice much any more.

Not everyone is the same!

Anybody spotted the similarity of message from 'Beryl' and 'In The Gallery'?
Both song have characters who dies before get 'In the gallery'.
Imagine best of MK&DS CD called 'Harry and Beryl' :lol

Don't you think of the "In the gallery" theme?

"I've got to say he passed away in obscurity
And now all the vultures are coming down from the tree
So he's going to be in the gallery"

Interesting subject...

 ;)

Singles were never the best songs of the MK albums
True Love Will Never Fade is the best example.
Singles are the songs that fit better for radio play... never the best of the albums.
But, Redbud Tree was not a single but just a "focus song" as they said.
They got a name for people like you, yeh they do
And they got a name for people like me too

True Love Will Never Fade sounded much better played live in concert!

Also, Beryl stands out among all those long tracks on Tracker, it's by far the shortest apart from that rubbish box bonus litter. ;D

Haha Jbaent
But I do agree. It's also a repetitive lyric, like Beryl. I don't like that

I also like the song. I really like it. It was played at my wedding, when I entered the room at the beggining of the ceremony
