Cool to know:

I've been very productive the last years. In the current tour we don't do more then three gigs after each other. Not because I can't take it anymore, but I want to create and write in between.'

And i've searched on youtube for the drumming style of Dave Brubeck. It's jazz style.

I was young and had so much energy. After a studio session with my technician Neil Dorfsman I drove home on my bicycle at four in the morning. Then I already saw the garbage trucks. Manhattan just before sunrise is so beautiful. I could go on forever and there was no brake on it. Those were great times. With Neil I did Brothers in Arms later on.

Isn't this looks like a clue for

I think he just counted down months when actual recording could be hit in the UK, and Gene Autry actually had

I now have a band that plays the songs from DS better than the original group.

I hate when he says that.  Couldn't disagree more.  The current band is obviously great musicians, but DS played DS way better.

He really sounds inspired and energetic. I like this interview very much. Not sure about my first imaginations of River Towns though, I would have made it some sort of Geordie/5.15 am - kind of song, or Single-Handed Sailor a-like.. now it seems more like another Planet of New Orleans which would be great. The only song I really hate on Privateering is Blood and Water, so I hope River Towns sounds not too much like that one.

It is really tough to wait now. The story about the opening song sounds really interesting!

And you need a very good memory to remember ad hoc when a certain song was released and which charts positions etc.. :-)

That's what Alan Clark said about "The Straits"!     ;)    :lol

BTW Many thanks, holaknopfler for this translation.    :thumbsup
