Chet Interview?
« on: August 03, 2014, 11:42:51 AM »
I remember reading an interview with Chet Atkins where he was talking about the first time that he met Mark.
Chet said that he was dreading the meeting because he was expecting a rock prima donna full of his own importance but was most impressed when instead Mark turned out to be modest and unassuming.

Is that interview on the web somewhere? If so, could somebody point me the right direction?

I would love to read that too :) !

There used to be a radio special about Chet on youtube. I remember him talking about Mark, but I'm not sure what he said.

The story (that I recall) that Mark tells is that Chet called him after hearing one of his tracks (MFN or SoS).

It was indeed SOS Irisrose!  :clap
It gets a mention in Chet's book:- "Chet Atkins: Me and My Guitars
By Chet Atkins, Michael Cochran, Russ Cochran" - available on line here.

Hi Irisrose.
So far, I have only used it as a resource for our AMIT TV releases, pertaining to Chet, but from those sections that I have read it is certainly a book that I would recommend to any guitar/Music fan.
This page is a nice little overview of Chet as well:- http://biography.yourdictionary.com/chet-atkins

Kind regards

Thank you SL! Unfortunately less than a page for MK and only the classic photo of the two of them. He heard SOS of course, and asked him! And MK had complete control on N&N and he wanted Chet to play his old style!
Come on, it is not funny anymore.

If you lile Chet and guitars then it's worth getting. If you're just looking for MK content then not worth it.

If I ever find it I will certainly buy it, Chet is a legend playing with almost everybody who was somebody! And really MK is just the cherry on top. I found Wexler's autobiography very amusing and informative, although it had only 1 page about MK. The same with Steely Dan and Randy Newman. These people are amazing musicians and their memories are really worth it!
Come on, it is not funny anymore.
