I pretty much feel the same way as the writer of The Telegraph article. I mean, sure I'll get the album, but here's what I wrote elsewhere regarding the news; On the one hand I'm very excited about this, if it's true, -PF is fantastic. But on the other I'm trying to stay cautious as there's usually a reason songs are not included on the albums first time around. PF are great, although they've been re-releasing their music over the years in different remastered versions and collections and it's almost like they're realizing they can't do more with it, so now they're going for unreleased stuff. I'm thinking that at worst it could be a hodgepodge of different styles that don't really "fit in" with each other, but it remains to be seen/heard. So, I'm cautiously optimistic...

I dont think this is Gilmour doing a Pink Floyd album, but Gilmour giving a final shape to unreleased Pink Floyd songs, so its a PF album 100%, at least a post-Roger Waters PF album.

I agree that Amused to Death its the best RW album, "The Final Cut" wasn
any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....

Actually its a big dissapointment, I was expecting a solo Gilmour cd with a new tour, but if it was PF what he was doing, there wont be any tour, and I still want to see Gilmour live...

In the other hand, Crosby and Nash said they were singing for him, so...

Here in the UK we had the first airing on Radio 2 (Chris Evans) of the first track called 'Louder than words' from the forthcoming 'Last ever' PF Album 'and it's rather good - beautiful clean Strat Sound....
This album is largely instrumentals - with a few songs written by DG's other half for good measure..

great news ! but surprising  :o ???

Bjorn from gilmourish.com was expecting a new David's album soon.

it seems it has turned into a floyd project... :hmm but what does really mean "pink floyd" today ?  :think Does it mean that Roger is involved ?  :o (it could be since Dave was guest on some Roger's shows...)

if not, apart from the Rick's tune from 94, it would be "only" a Dave album with Nick on drums imho... :think
bjorn based himself, as we all did, on that pic of david with the backing singers in the studio's
but David had already promised rick wright in his last weeks/days/hours (in the end, do not know exactly when) that he would use his compositions and turn them in a floyd record, together with the "Big spliff" recordings that happened at the same time as the Division bell recordings, which were mainly instrumental songs.
Pink Floyd consists out of david, nick and rick.
roger legally left the band in 1985.
for me this is floyd as much as the 94, 87, 77, 67 versions.
With all due respect I can't agree to this.
Given the fact that Roger meant so much to Flyod in terms of songwriting and lyrics, and the very touching reconciliation between the two over the years, it is great pity that Roger was not involved somehow. I hope it won't be the start of a new feud.,,
he does not want to be, it is not him being left out.
any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....

that IS still coming.
i heard the first few instrumentals (and recognised one from old demo's from 93) and loved it.
i am a sucker for any floyd. preferrably with DG (if i need to choose, which i do not like)
listening to the shine on demo now...aaaahhh
any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....

I listened to the first available tune. Although I liked it (Gilmour's guitar and voice cannot possibly be hated), I had the same feeling as for "On an island": nice, but a bit too "easy listening" compared to PF's golden era...

What disappoints me most (sorry Pottel) is that Roger was not involved. A great opportunity was missed. Those guys, after 20 years of stupid fighting, have reconciled. They now invite each other on stage, they hug each other, they speak about forgiveness... so why on earth couln't they reunite and merge under the PF brand ??? why had Roger to say "I don't belong to PF, I left PF 19 years ago, that's no rocket science" ? What are you waiting for, guys: for yet another key member to pass away ? haven't you learned your lesson the hard way when Rick died before the 4 of you could do another album together ?

I had a dream that all 3 of you would work together again and release an album under the brand "What's left of Pink Floyd"...

Oh well. Love you guys anyway, you and Mark are the best musicians ever.

also, i have a feeling as a lot of the stuff in David's safe is going to be seeing the light of day soon.
they even have rehearsals from back in '69 in there, all catalogued amazingly well apparantly. (great article in the actual uncut magazine)
