Lockerbie Tickets
« on: May 07, 2014, 01:53:47 AM »
While looking through an old DS/NHB folder belonging to mrs twm [in connection with the "Egham" thread], I came across some  spare tickets for the NHB charity concert at Lockerbie.

This concert took place in the Rex Cinema in Lockerbie on 24 April 1990.  It was not much publicised. It was organised on behalf of the "Lockerbie Gala & Riding of the Marches" committee for the benefit of the local gala. The 500 tickets sold out straightaway. Apparently MK had wanted to perform at an earlier concert headlined by Fish (ex-Marillion) but was unable to do so.  The show was deliberately kept low key and not included on any official itinerary so that it could be "sold exclusively to the people of Lockerbie". We happened to live some 20 miles away at the time and mrs twm managed to get tickets.

The tickets are printed on card, about 9 cm x 6 cm in size, with a deckled edge. The tickets have a blue border that fades to white in the centre, where the concert details are printed, also in blue. And each ticket is individually numbered, with the number printed in black. These tickets are very different from the style of tickets for major concerts at that time. They are more like the sort of tickets sold for a local dance or ceilidh. You may remember that there was a ceilidh sequence in "Local Hero".

As it happens, I was glad to attend for personal reasons. Anyway, if anyone cares to make an offer for one of these unusual tickets, please send me a private message.

Interesting information, thank you very much. Would you be willing to make a scan or photo of one of the tickets so a picture of it can be included in this section:

I am still adding concert tickets, so any addition is welcome.
