OK, all. Even though I do not have time to search and despite the fact that the video Geordie_60 posted, mentions that this is an alleged speech and this video implying, it might be true (   )  I believe that we need way more solid evidence to make any accusations. Not about the rant containing racist remarks, but if Clapton was a racist. Obviously he is not any more.  Anyway, I think that racism has different meaning in each country and each time of history.

With the passing of time, younger people tend to judge very strictly the views of the older people from other times. Sometimes they even forget that the lack of "sensitivities" was because the societies functioned differently.  According to the second video, and trying to see it in a positive way, I think that Clapton in that time was thinking that there was a radical change in the places he knew and lived and he didn't like it. He was coming from an older society and he was trying to adopt and live in the new world, as it was coming to form. It is a matter of what words you would use to describe it, and from which side of the "time fence"  you are looking. (Always talking for the video that replies to the accusations)   Maybe some of his comments were too raw, coming at a bad time, being high or whatever. But really, I don't think we should cast any stones, because he is a different man now.

Back to the original topic, with this one:
Come on, it is not funny anymore.

Amen to this.

Geordie, I have amended your post. Racist language will not be tolerated on Amit, even if you claim to be quoting Eric Clapton.

Consider this a friendly warning to think before you type in future.

Agree Dusty! We all have raised  emotions at the release of this great piece of work. We all need to take a deep breathe, and concentrate on what we post. Personal & hurtful name calling posts don't fit the atmosphere that we are aiming for here. We all have different views and opinions on various situations from each other, depending on our own perceptions and how we decipher information based on that. As I said in previous posts, AMIT if a happy & friendly, but also very tolerant place to visit. It is great to have differing opinions and having a place to express them, is even better, but let's all remember the rights of others to have an opposite view. If we try to have a softer, kinder approach to things this place remains happy, and it sets a standard for other forum's to follow.

Happy Easter to all at A Mark In Time forum  :wave :clap
