BR - I'm definitely not a blues hater!   I love all of the tracks on Privateering, especially the bluesy ones!

So, in your opinion, Train To Nowhere is the best song on the album and if anyone should have a different view to you, we are then called blues haters?    ???

I like train to nowhere. It is pure JJ. Not one of his best though, but the con-tributors have done a wonderful job. JJ would have been proud. I will compare with the demo as soon as it gets released.
Come on, it is not funny anymore.

The track was mentioned earlier in the thread as well.

Nice track. Lyrics are mixed low but I guess that fits with Cale's style.

The guitar riff is reminiscent of Used to Could. Nice groove.

Is the guitar interplay Mark and Clapton?

Yes it's sounds like

I'd say that Mark is playing both the heavy rhythm and the clean lead on left/center channel (pan around 10:00), while EC is on crunch lead on right/center channel (pan around 2:00)

Mark is heard alone from  1:15 to 1:29
and typical lick at 1:00

EC is heard alone from 3:21 to 3:38

I've downloaded it and gave it a first listening. I love what our man is doing, but must also say that i love the contributions of John Mayer. Magnolia is magnificient and also "Don't wait" is good. Of course Christine Lakeland adds also the original JJ Cale feeling to it.
So a good effort by Eric Clapton. The songs with Mark, John Mayer and Christine Lakeland I like the most. :clap

The others? --- Hm, i'll give them a second listening  :-\

I liked everything in general, but was deeply impressed and fascinated by the song The Old Man & Me.
Marvellous...

I was happy to find in stores today.
Without any surprise, the two most interesting tunes are Someday and Train to nowhere. That was very smart of EC to ask Mark to play unreleased material.  :thumbsup

The set list is clearly not the best JJ but the covers are nice. I wish there were more rocking tunes.

The booklet is interesting : lots of pictures with familiar faces  ???  :think

Great album but Songbird and Someday shines brighter. After all those years Willie Nelson's voice still remain pure.

This is the best MK stuff I've heard in years.
