Sincerely, it must be hard being JI, playing & living amongst the Hurricane that was Dire Straits only to find himself doing nothing of significance for the last 22 years!!

There's a fella called John Deacon of Queen, who somehow found the secret to leaving it all behind whilst the others struggle on for significance. Deacon should start a support group, but I honestly think he's too busy having a real life! He's an enigma.

Hear hear, John Deacon is the only member of Queen to retain any dignity.  Some of the stuff the other two have done with the Queen name has been downright embarrassing.

Surely John doesn't need the money,  he just wants to play.

And what has happened to Danny?

I got massively into Queen at the same time as DS which was a couple of years before Freddie Mercury died. As Dusty said Taylor and more so May are an embarresment to the legacy of Queen. They should and could have started a whole new venture on a small basis. They make MK look even more dignified in his later years.

I know a gig's a gig but I find it very, very strange that Steve Ferrone plays in these rribute acts when he is a permanent member of one of the greatest bands in the world.

I love Queen's work during the 70ies : from 1st album to news of a world. After that it changed and their 80ies are not my cupa, even some songs are good.

During their firts era, I like their blending of hard / glam / prog / lyrical /dandy / 20s-jazzy / etc...
I'd say it's like the beatles meeting hendrix, meeting Led Zep meeting Puccini meeting music-hall from the "belle

I think that w are a bit harsh on them. They are musicians, devoted their lives on playing these songs, they have to make a living and they love what they are doing and there seems to be an audience to pay to see them . Seems to me the ideal combination. If one of the reasons above is eclipsed the thing will fall apart. The same with Queen. I liked them from Sheer heart attack until Jazz and then they had many great songs during the 80ies, and their last proper album was amazingly good. And then some of them thought that they were equally Queen without Mercury (they were correct) and some of them thought that the Queen is dead (equally correct). Now I believe it has to do with the ones paying to see them. As long as there is a demand, some of them will cover it. No harm done really. It is only a matter of taste. I would never go to see Mick and Keith, because there is nothing there for me, (Bill Wyman could be an example for your case, though) but I won't say no to our MK, playing his DS songs, as well as the new ones.

Well, actually I "guess" the management had done something to avoid many European promoters hire The Straits or Dslegends. Something like a "concern that MK wont be hsppy with that".

A subtle warning, if you know what I mean.

Late though but interesting to know that Mark and Guy did speak together about the matter.

The fact that John Illsley is involved with this tribute band is not that lightweighted.

So Mark unhappy to see that so many people still like Dire Straits music to accept an ersatz made with some genuine ingredients?
That simply tells how the Dires Straits Beast has escaped from Knopfler's control and is not totally dead in the heart of the fans...

And to make things clear I would probably not attend neither an "The Straits" nor a "DS Legends" gig.
