I was fortunate enough to be there that night, and the live version, like so many songs Mark plays live has "grown" from the album track. Guy's 1960's "sitar" keyboard solo fits so well and is just inspired.
When you point your finger 'cause your plan fell through you've got 3 more fingers pointing back at you.

Just listened on headphones! Great sound & terrific performance. Is this a 'fan' recording or from the desk?
Shangri La is the BEST album ! :)
Hey, i`ve got a truffle dog - finally a song the ordinary man can relate too!

It's from the official usb stick obviously. When I read this topic I thought Wow, finally a video from that great song performance, but it is just a picture with the music from the stick ...

Hey, Naif, thanks a lot!!
I know these clips (as I once started an ambitious thread that wanted to collect all 2013 YouTube-videos in good quality - (the operative word is "wanted")
but I really think that the Newcastle version is by far the best 5.15 am live version. So that was my special interest that I mentioned.

Really good version! Is it Richard playing the distorted (Les Paul?) guitar lines? It sounds kind of like Mark, but not quite :)

Yes Richard is playing lead licks but on his sunburst strat (the one he plays on Romeo I think), Mark is playing rhythm on the strat

Marks is playing the original key : Eb
Richard is playing with a capo at the 3rd fret, so in C shape

look at the videos :

on the Begrade version you can see Richard switching a pedal for the solo, it explains the distorted sound

About the song in general, I find some good ideas, but I far prefer the studio version : the global sound fits more to the song imho
the live version goes too much "rock" while the studio version has a more "ambient" flavour so to say, and it gives me more the picture of the scene (snow, daybreak, etc..)

Dear lord, the instrumental part in the middle of the song is fantastic! I really love that organ here  :clap :clap
