:lol    :lol     The one on the right looks like a girl to me.    :)

If I didn't know better I wouldn't be surprised if it was Ingrid!

You beat me to it when I was editing!    ;D

1977??? Nope, couldn't be me, became fan in 1978. By the way I was white haired at that time, but not a boy ;-)
And first show was 1985 after I missed the 1983 one in Maaspoort (10 minutes walk from my house, was there from 3am to buy tickets and sold out before it was my turn)

Oh Ingrid, how could that have happened to you  ??? ??? You must have been devastated. >:(

I was very disappointed. Didn't have experience with queueing at that time. I swore it would never happen again ..... and it didn't. From then on I spend a lot of nights in the cold to be sure I could buy a ticket for DS ;-)

:thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup :clap :clap :clap I'll do anything for our beloved MK too.  Good thing now we have the fan presale  ;D ;D

Ingrid and Sweet Surrender--I'm no good at standing in cold wind.   That's why I disappeared a couple of times at the gate in Oakland.   I didn't have your stamina.

So, back to the Deptford photo.   The audience member on our left has a strange posture.  He or she looks as if he's leaning forward a bit and looking down toward the stage floor or ground.    Odd.   And he is wearing glasses or sunglasses, right?    The shape of the hairstyle is very odd for a chid.    Maybe MK_Live has heard something from the photographer by now.

I sent a PM to Julio with the email address of the woman who took the photograph, maybe Julio now can ask all questions you are interested in. I am not really interested to mail her for that to be honest.

You are welcome.

The only info I have on my site regarding this picture (awards section, PRS);

The photo of Dire Straits playing in front of the flat is an actual photo of that very first gig, 9th July 1977. Courtesy of Glenda Bogdanovs. Additional info from Glenda: the photo was taken during a local one day festival for local musicians. Dire Straits were on fairly early and the audience was very small. It didn't really swell until later in the afternoon when other local bands played. When David Knopfler saw this photo on Facebook, he wrote on 9th August 2010: "I'm trying to figure out where we'd tucked away our Fender Combos, because I didn't own that Marshall stack. And WEM columns in the PA system.. blimey! They were considered pretty bad even back in the 60s!" When someone asked David how many people turned out for that first gig and how many songs were played, David replied: "About 200 people I'd guess.. maybe more. Think we played for about an hour."

I found today something about this first Dire Straits concert (playing as Café Racers) that makes me think that the date could be wrong...

I read in several places that Squeeze also played in the Farrer House gardens, and in any Squeeze site you would find that on 26th June 1977 Squeeze played at Deptford, but there is nothing about the 9th of July...

Could it be that we had the date wrong for whatever the reason?

There is even a poster of it:

Or maybe there were two festivals  (26th June & 9th July) and Squeeze played only the first one? Not very logical because it's just 2 weeks apart from each other but could be of course. Isn't the date of 9th July not mentioned in the BIA tourbook?  Would be silly if that is incorrect information.

I heard many times that Squeeze headlined the concert.

By the way there are many official dates that are wrong, I will explain about one legendary concert which is wrongly dated next week, when I have time to do it properly.

That legendary concert wrongly dates I was talking about is explained in this thread:

I sent an e-mail to Glenda Bogdanovs to ask her if she remember Squueze playing the same day she took that picture, depending on his answer I would e-mail John and David as well...

I also e-mailed the guy who made the Squeeze site to ask him about this. I will let you know if something comes clear from it...
