I want a 4track release

telegraph tunnel planet sultans from on the night

I can pay any sum

everyone has his holy grail

mine would be the whole communique album in demo version (like WDYYG on MFN comp)

it does exist, as it's explained in the Oldfield book :
all songs, except Communique composed at Nassau, had been recorded as demos in London (I guess around octobre-november 78) and as they were very impressive, Beckett used to joke about them : "you already done the album in one take, we just have to do it again"

Everything exist on demos, before they get to the studio to record the album, they have demos made before.

Mk and Guy are recording demos right now, when the band, or other musicians come to complete the songs, they are the record.
So Long

It would be interesting to hear demos of songs that got complex arrangements in the studio, like Ride across the river and such songs.

we know what Behind with the rent sounded like before the whole band came in and then it completely changed.

Everything exist on demos, before they get to the studio to record the album, they have demos made before.

Mk and Guy are recording demos right now, when the band, or other musicians come to complete the songs, they are the record.

I think that in the case of Lions and Communique (the song), it's not sure that a demo recording exists

in both cases, the song was composed and written in the studio, during the album recording. So they rehearsed it, tried few things and then recorded it directly I believe.
It's a litlle bit different than demos completely recorded and "produced" almost like a released recording, like the case of 77 demos, or autumn 78 demos

of course now things are different, Guy and Mak can spent all the time they want in studio, so they can record and mix at many different stages during the album recording

Jimi Hendrix recorded tons of demos because he couldn't write his music, but I'm not sure it's the case for all artists all the time.

And it depends on what you call a "demo"

it can be rehearsal recorded, a jam recorded, a self-made recording in a hotel room, an alternate mix, only a different overdub, etc...

for example on "gloden demos", I make a difference between DWB or LOTW which are the final recording without lead guitar overdub, and no wonder he's confused or secondray waltz, which are works in progress, attemps, or whaterver you could call it, but all songs are under the name "demo"

here are "studio outtakes" from floyd' animals :

http://www.gilmourish.com/?p=4953

Someone could call them "demos", but it contains many final tracks from the final release, so it's not completely "demos" in the way I quoted the WDYTYG form the MFN comp which is a completely different recording from the Nassau sessions

Oh, to be a fly on the wall right now at BG - before Guy suggests to remove all the guitar solos to let the song "breathe" and then John and Mike come in and change them into a "Celtic Connections Take LSD" sound!
"...and I blew up the radio in pretty short order."

I agree with 3Strats on the blues stuff. I was so hoping he'd do a blues album in the direction of "I Think I Love You Too Much," but "Don't Forget Your Hat" didn't do it for me.

Sonny Liston (live) and Junkie Doll (live in particular but also on the album) sound very well. On Privateering, Bluebird is the the best blues song. Simple but haunting.

I'm not very fond of Blood and Water. Except for the chorus part with the water sound. I feel I "should" like it, but it just seems that we've heard songs like this many times before.

Great MK blues songs for me are You and Your Friend (Live) and Fade To Black (Live) plus Planet of New Orleans
Knopfler, Oldfield and Gilmour is all the guitar I need.
